Interesting idea. I'm surprised that Hollinger's analysis predicts a -7 wins for the Blazers after picking up Love and Porter. Defensive concerns?

Projected Record Note:
Projected records are based on the PER of the players in each team’s post-trade rotation.

Since the trade isn't happening until July 6th how about:

ET and a future pick for Korver and Crowder
I really don’t want old ass white knight Korver... Is a Crowder rental worth a first round pick?

Yes, because we dump Turner, pick up a couple vets with playoff experience that can help fill roles we will likely need to cover, we'd still have a bunch of expiring contracts to use in trades if they become available, and we don't ruin any cap flexibility next summer.

Also like what Memphis is building. Morant and Jackson is a helluva starting point. Another year or two in the lottery and they'll be back.
Too bad they wont have their pick in 2020 or 2021.

I think its top 6 protected in 2020. They want to suck for sure next season. It goes unprotected to the Celtics in 2021 if they land in the top 6.

I'm pretty sure Jae Crowder would be available and might be worth pursuing if Aminu leaves in FA (or even if not).

From Lowe:
In Allen, Korver, and Crowder, Memphis gets three useful players. (Depending on how they structure the trade, the Grizzlies could also create a fat trade exception of about $25 million.) Allen, the 21st pick a year ago, logged just 416 minutes as a rookie, but Utah remained optimistic about his potential. The Grizzlies can almost argue they acquired three first-round picks in this deal. Waiting also allowed Memphis to have certainty over where Utah would pick in Thursday's draft.

Korver and especially Crowder are movable for value. (Memphis trading Crowder for two second-round picks makes too much sense for it not to happen -- and maybe soon.) Crowder leaves a gaping hole at power forward in Utah. (The Jazz's best lineups since acquiring Crowder at the 2018 trade deadline have featured him as a small-ball power forward.)

Also:

The bickering Rockets are still here. None of Denver, Portland, Oklahoma City, and San Antonio are going anywhere. At least one -- maybe more -- have the goods to make a big win-now move. (Can we get Kevin Love to Portland somehow, please?)

It’s good that 2022 will remain with them regardless of position as that’s the year of double draft.

That's what I'm saying haha

Nope. Crowder is a bum. Another high motor forward that can't shoot to open the floor up.
That’s what I thought as well, Crowder hasn’t been a good player since Boston.

His stat line last season is pretty putrid... 12/5/2 (rounding up) on .399/.331/.721, rather just keep Aminu, at least we wouldn’t have to give up an asset to retain him.

Aminu at 9/8/1 on .433/.343/.867 and already knows the team..

I'd rather have Crowder+Korver than ET.

But it's not worth giving our first round pick up for. If they bite on a second go ahead and do it. If not shop for other deals.

I'm hoping we see an ET deal before training camp, there are lots of vets tanking teams don't care for that we should be able to flip him for.

We don't know how much Aminu is going to cost or if he even wants to stay though. He could sign elsewhere and there isn't anything we can do about it.

Plus some are ignoring that it might open up the Full-MLE for Hood.

I'm fine with that approach too.

Would you rather have Aminu back with no Hood or Crowder filling in for Aminu with Hood back too?

Edit: I realize it's not the only way to do things.

What? Letting Aminu walk might give us the full MLE? Is that what you are saying? If so why is there even a discussion. If a full MLE gets us Hood then I don't hesitate. I thought it was no Aminu plus another player had to be moved.

I don’t think Aminu gets more than about 7mil. I think a fair deal for him is 3/18-21

I can see him getting a similar deal to Leonard and Harkless as 7 mil is less than the MLE.
After the big guys get paid, there won’t be a whole lot of room to sign guys to 10mil a year deals.

Not quite how it works, I'll break down the math for everyone later. Getting Crowder not only makes Aminu expendable but if we use my example of ET going out with Crowder and Korver coming in we save $3.3 million making it a little easier to possibly slide under the hard cap if we used the Full-MLE.

Roughly from the top of my head in my car:

We'd be at $124.7 with
Dame
CJ
Nurk
Leonard
Harkless
Korver
Crowder
Collins
Simons
Trent
Skal
Layman's QO/Cap Hold

That's 12

Add $9+ million for Hood and we're at $134 million with the expected apron at around $138 million.

Add $1.8 million for pick 25 and we're at $135.8 million with 14 guys.

That gives us just enough money to sign Layman to about $3 million unless he takes his QO which might work out better and then sign someone to the minimum for the 15th spot.

Like I said it's super close but that extra little $3.3 million makes it possible without dipping too much from Aminu's production. Even better if we were able to sign Hood for like $7 million a year instead of the Full-MLE and were then able to sign a RoLo or another backup big too.

They must love Conley because Allen was born to wear a Utah Jazz uniform. Maybe I’ll hate him less in Memphis, doubt it.

Jazz fans gonna freak out for trading 2 white player for a black player:D :D
