People believed that Y2K was legit.

Some thought the Rapture was coming a few years back.

I wouldn't put it past some of the dumb dumbs running around in this country.
 
They just have to make it A LOT harder to obtain a gun, ANY gun. The gun show loophole for one.

My god that is so sad. So many lives have just been ruined. What unbelievable pain.
 
Just the thought getting news like this about my son makes me nauseated. All of those families...

What a horrifying and horrible incidence. As a parent its just about my worst nightmare, my child in danger and me being nowhere near and unable to help.

Or we could start addressing the real problem and targeting mentally ill persons. Identifying them at an earlier age, and trying to do something about it. These are disturbed people. It's not like it came out of nowhere. We have coddled the mentally disturbed for too long, or worse, just shoved them aside and pretended that they aren't there until they do something like this. Nobody wants to deal with them. Either they're put away for life because they committed a horrible crime, or they're loose and we hope they don't commit a crime. I don't know what we can do about it, but at least figuring out who they are would be a step in the right direction.

There are many women and legitimate people that defend themselves with guns, you're getting emotional. Universities that let students carry guns are actually a bit safer IIRC.

I'm also going to have a family one day, having a family means nothing what matters is a sound argument. Also i don't care that you served but you seem like a good guy, I just think you're wrong.
 
How sick does someone have to be to commit an act like this? How damaged? I just don't understand how someone's humanity could fall to such a state. I just don't.
 
Gun control is like drug control. If you put huge restrictions on obtaining one, im fine with that, but it really only effects regular people. If your disturbed or planning harm and want a gun, its really not that hard to buy them illegally and just like with drugs, even if you make them illegal, it will remain easy to obtain illegally.

e:to clarify, i have had bouts of depression, and many in my family (mostly extended) as well. Where do you draw the line?
 
Well, the thing is if more normal people were able to carry firearms on them, the chances of them taking out someone doing this before doing damage is much higher.

Well not to mention that centralized protection is inferior, many women are murdered with knives and they have no way of defending themselves. They can't wait for some fat lazy cop to do something.

Accidents happen, it is up to people to realize what a statistical outlier is. The school failed to provide adequate security, etc. Obviously I have to learn more details about this case, of course.
