After reviewing how totally ignorant Trump is, Chris Hayes suggested he take a month off to play golf and let someone competent run things.

And smart. I don't think some people realize how bad this is because they just see the 3% mortality rate. If even 10% of the US population contract it, that's nearly 1 million people dead in the US alone. Controlling the spread is key.
Except that mortality rate is based on confirmed cases, and there's asymptomatic carriers and people with light symptoms that have the disease but will never be confirmed. Ive rrad that the mortality rate is predicted to be 0.7%...

The mortality rate is much lower for young, healthy people.

So essentially, dont go to a game if your sick, or if your at higher risk for health complications due to the virus. People will be smart or stupid regardless of if theres a crowd at sporting events.

Washington county with nine coronavirus deaths urges ALL its 2.2MILLION residents to work from home, pulls 22,000 students from school and tells everyone over 60 to stay indoors - while state officials warn primary voters not to lick ballots
  • King County health officials urged businesses to allow employees to telecommute for the next three weeks
  • They also recommended that higher-risk groups - including people over 60 and who have underlying health issues - to stay home and away from large social gatherings
  • Washington has been at the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the US, with 39 cases and 10 deaths
  • Most of the state's deaths were patients at a Seattle-area nursing home that is now under federal investigation

  • Ten of the deaths have occurred in Washington state while California recorded its first death on Wednesday
  • The California death was an elderly patient with underlying health conditions who was likely exposed on a cruise ship from San Francisco to Mexico in early February

Coronavirus hoax spreads online after Rush Limbaugh broadcast
Louis Baudoin-Laarman, AFP USA said of the novel coronavirus on his show on February 24, 2020. Limbaugh was decrying the virus “being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump.”

Conservative US radio host Rush Limbaugh compared the novel coronavirus to “a common cold," prompting debate over the virus’ lethality. This is misleading; the strain discovered in late 2019 differs from and is more deadly than the human coronaviruses that can cause a cold, health experts say.
“I’m dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks,” Limbaugh said of the novel coronavirus on his show on February 24, 2020. Limbaugh was decrying the virus “being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump.”

A similar theory took hold on social media in the days following Limbaugh’s remark, though without any explicit connection to the radio host. Some Facebook users began to share a photo of an old medical textbook citing the common cold as a possible condition caused by coronaviruses.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, some of which can cause the common cold.

However, as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states on its website: “The virus causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), is not the same as the coronaviruses that commonly circulate among humans and cause mild illness, like the common cold.”

Hey, I hear that @ABM may have a place in the Azores...maybe you could hang out there for awhile? :bgrin:
I'd go for that. Only problem is, what would I use for a dialysis team and equipment? Solve that and I'm gone.

What do you mean, Washington county? I don't believe Washington has a Washington county.

Rush Limbaugh is a certified idiot. But certified idiots are what Trump believes deserve the Medal of Freedom. After all, Trump is a certified idiot.

I haven't seen drop off at all at my gym, in fact it seems to be getting busier. There is every nationality you can think of there and its one of the reasons I like the place.
Is anyone in here changing their daily routine because of CV concerns?

Comes straight from the top. I genuinely can’t understand how anyone can support this sociopath

I haven't, my gym seems to be normal. Had our kids out yesterday and there were other kids running around at the park with them. I guess if anything were more careful with making sure they wash their hands more frequently but that's about it.

I'm not really sure I understand the "lie" here. He says some people get better sitting around or going to work, and that some go to work. That is different than saying they should go to work isn't it...

This is such a flawed way of thinking. It was parroted by Uncle Donald yesterday:

“They don’t even see a doctor, they don’t even call a doctor. You never hear about those people…Personally, I'd say the number is way under 1 per cent.”

ugh, his moronic false statements are dangerous and clearly they're making their way into the public's minds.

The fuck? I pay no attention to what Trump says, and I definitely dont support him.

If you want to debate my point, you can. But sitting here saying I'm listening and parotting Trump is silly.

You said literally the same thing he did.

Outbreaks should consider an exponential growth model with time-- at the current rate the number of cases is doubling every three days. If you assume that even 1% of the population gets it, a 0.7% mortality rate as you and Trump surmise, that's 20k+ Americans dead.

The numbers are staggering and shouldn't be simply thrown aside because of the single digit mortality rate. Yes, the elderly are more prone, but the mortality rate already has that factor built into it.

I would do some more research before dismissing this as you are.

I disinfect my monitor and keyboard or my phone every time I visit this S2 viral cesspool.

Around 35K Americans die a year due to car accidents. Should we ban cars and avoid driving?

Basing the mortality rate off of confirmed cases is inherently flawed, because there will be many milder, uncomfirmed cases. But you have people wanting to completely shut down society, ruin businesses, and so forth.

You're missing the point. Unforeseen deaths are just that. Unforeseen.

This IS controllable with common sense precautions. Limiting exposure by postponing or canceling spectator sports is a really easy fix.

The economy comes secondary. You apparently think you disagree with him, but yet you are echoing every thing Trump is saying and doing. Dude just put pressure on the feds to reduce interest rates as his way to tackle corona. Hope that helps the businesses you're so concerned with.
