what concerns me is the effect it might have in a week or two here and in all the other states where social distancing and other preventative measures have been tossed out the window.

Thing is you never know how many of those people protesting will go out to restaurants or shopping at different retail places without or before getting tested. The protests aren't going to stop anytime soon.

It's almost as if they give a great fuck to the inequalities in our country, and are willing to take that risk to bring national attention to it. At least it's not about getting a haircut and their fucking nails done.

Jesus Christ man. These people in the media and twitter blue checkmark assholes just got done telling us we had to lock ourselves in our homes indefinitely because there was such a grave risk. People were being shamed out of grocery stores for not having a mask on. Now the same people have ditched that narrative for a new one...public gatherings???

Watching that poor man get murdered on the street by a sociopath cop was the first real piece of information the media has allowed any of us to see in months. And the only reason they did is so there would be a war in the streets and more Covid bullshit, exactly what they want. All this shit is going down exactly as it’s supposed to.

Next up? More coronavirus and shaming people to hide in their closets again after they were encouraged to hit the streets flash mob style.

I do very much like seeing the public gatherings to fight against police brutality and systemic racism. I wouldn't call it entertained, exactly.

Based on what we've been watching for the past week and a half in cities across America, I'd say that's most every state. Barring a miracle, I think the second wave is going to hit on steroids.

If you can’t fathom the irony between Covid lockdowns and nationwide public gatherings being pushed by the same people then I guess we just won’t agree. He didn't call racism on you. The only part of his post that I could interpret as aimed at you was "shit posts paranoid about a grand conspiracy." The only place he mentioned racism was about what was being protested.

You should be shamed out of a grocery store for not having a mask on....hell I've been in the fields picking strawberries with dozens of elderly farmers keeping our distance and wearing masks outside...non of us work for the media an most probably don't have twitter....be smart....go out and do what you need but wear a fucking mask, stay a safe distance and wash your hands.....protesters are taking a big risk, I'll give you that but unlike me, most aren't 66 with chronic heart disease...everybody needs to take public health seriously and stop thinking it's reality tv or some political conspiracy

I have no problem with masks and I have no problem with the protesters, ESPECIALLY given the fucked up incident they are protesting. I don’t know how that is being taken as what I’m saying.

I’m pointing out the disconnect between a lot of the same prominent voices and entities that pushed for lockdown now being the ones basically encouraging these gatherings. Surely something is not right there...right? Isn’t there a shred of irony there somewhere? And literally nobody here can accept that as a viable thing to point out and HCP thinks I’m the fucking unibomber now.

This is going to come of condescending, but this outlook is like the plot of some shitty comic book or something. There doesn't always have to be an arch-villain, although wow does Trump fit the role to a T. Not all people are puppets, blindly led into stupid situations for the benefit of some dark force. Quite to the contrary, in fact.

The harsh reality is people have had enough and they are so enraged that they are putting their health to the side to protest. You better bet cases of covid will spike, and it won't be make-believe cases, but social movements come when social movements come; they can't always be convenient for everyone. These are calculated risks.

And the media. Haha. Wtf. It's the news, dude, not some sci-fi mind control ray. When in doubt, look for more sources. People just aren't as stupid as you think. This aversions to masks or anger at expert opinions is to me infinitely more disgraceful than anything the media does.
