The whole it being an emergency/pandemic changes everything as well. Its basically short term instead of living off society.

Socialism says nothing about short-term or long-term. It's about policies that cause the society as a whole to take care of those with less means. You're basically saying you're okay with short-term socialistic policies, not long-term ones. Which is fine--well, not fine to my worldview, of course, but coherent. But it is still socialism.

Conservatives don't seem to understand that essentially no country is 100% socialism or 100% capitalism. You can be okay with some socialism without the nation devolving into serfdom. The entire debate revolves around how much of each, not which one to go with.

The whole analogy is just some low level thinking.
AKA trying to be reelected. That's really his only concern, if you ask me. Will that help Americans?I don't anticipate it will. But that's a topic for a different thread.

Emergency and disaster situations still differ from short term/long term aid. Its temporary, extraordinary aid in dire situations. Not part of normal day to day life.

However, I'm not against "socialism" per se. I would love for the government to take care of the homeless with food and shelter as long as they take them out of the public view.

Win-win.

Supporting the jobless and homeless by what we might call "socializing" the costs across the general taxpayer base...not sure, actually, why anyone would call that socialistic. We need a ruling from a communist, like barfo.

I agree, you need me to rule.

I am King, hear me roar.

barfo

Yes, very much like that, indeed.

I can see how home isolation would be quite tedious for you. Move the chest from one side of the basement to the other. Take break with supermodels. Move the chest from one side of the basement to the other. Supermodel break. Repeat ad infinitum.

Has anyone said no on returning to work yet?
Kind of. Our whole team of 4 people have said that we'd rather work from home. We have shown that we can work from home over the past few months, too. We are just on computers all day. Far different than a majority of America so that is a whole different factor.

The question is if/when the virus mutates again..I don’t know the science behind it but hopefully it doesn’t mutate like the European/nyc strain

The mutations are occurring, but they aren’t that different from the original virus and they aren’t expecting that they will interfere with development of an effective vaccine. There is some evidence, though, that the mutated version is more transmissible.
