There was no link with the graph. Anyone can make up a graph, but without the link where it came from and the supporting data, it's just a picture.
 
Got my covid booster and flu shots at the VA Friday...had my labs done....gotta cut down on sweets as my blood sugar level is just under prediabetic, I'm at the peak of normal sugar levels..I'm 5.7 and prediabetic is 5.8-6.3...I've been eating too much ice cream and pie after dinner for a few weeks. Going to fast tonight and try and lower it going into the New Year. All my other labs were great. Doing ok for now! My brother in law in Taiwan is diabetic and going blind now from it. Something I really don't want to battle. Still have remained covid free for the duration. I'm sure grateful for those folks at the VA who have helped me through a lot of stuff over the years...hope they still get funded with the next administration.

I remember when I was younger and first buying properties I attended a few real estate seminars and it's amazing how much bullshit they can put into a professional looking presentation with graphs and numbers that are supposed to make you believe you can't help but become a millionaire in 6 months with their company. Anybody can put together a power point presentation.

Mystery ‘Disease X’ Probed After Killing 79 People in Congo

(Bloomberg) -- Health officials in the Democratic Republic of the Congo expect to know within days the cause of an infectious disease outbreak termed ‘Disease X’ that’s sickened hundreds of people and killed at least 79, since late October.

Almost 200 of the 376 afflicted with a flu-like illness are younger than five years, said Jean Kaseya, director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. Cases of fever, headache, cough, difficulty breathing, and anemia were first reported on Oct. 24 in the Panzi health zone in the southwestern province of Kwango, with national authorities alerted Dec. 1.

“We have a delay of almost five to six weeks, and in five to six weeks so many things can happen,” Kaseya said Thursday on a weekly call with reporters. “Ongoing testing will help us to understand what is the issue.”

The disease emerged at a time of increased influenza circulation, and the culprit is likely to be airborne, said Dieudonné Muamba, director general of the National Public Health Institute. Patient specimens are being analyzed at a national lab in Kinshasa, some 500 kilometers (311 miles) from the outbreak zone.

Tests may be completed within 48 hours, with results released at the weekend, officials said.

The outbreak has renewed concerns of the emergence of a new pathogen with potential to spread across the world just a few years after Covid-19 forced countries to shut down borders and brought economic and social activities to a standstill.

Earlier this year, the spread of a new strain of mpox prompted the World Health Organization to declare the disease a public health emergency of international concern, though the virus’ spread out of Africa has remained sporadic.

Africa CDC is supporting Congolese officials with epidemiologists, laboratory scientists and infection prevention and control experts, Kaseya said, adding that the outbreak highlights challenges detecting diseases across the sprawling nation, where numerous deadly outbreaks occur concurrently.

“This is why we are supporting the country to build strong capacity on surveillance,” he said.

The WHO has also deployed experts, essential medicines, and diagnostic and sample collection kits to Kwango, helping authorities understand its modes of transmission, it said in a statement Friday. So far, the disease has been reported in seven of the 30 health zones in the remote province.

While a respiratory pathogen is being investigated as a possible cause, so are diseases such as malaria and measles, among others, the WHO said.

Health authorities in Hong Kong said late Thursday that they will tighten screenings at the airport for visitors arriving from Johannesburg and Addis Ababa, the two African transit hubs that could ferry travelers from the Democratic Republic of Congo. In Japan, the foreign ministry also advised people against unnecessary travel to the region affected by the outbreak.

Should we screen people arriving from Johannesburg and Addis Ababa?

Should we allow the people doing the screenings to wear... I know this sounds dumb... but should we allow them to wear masks? Wash their hands? Any sort of personal protection? What about the people on the plane? Mask mandate?

If this spreads to other countries do we block travel from those countries?

Ron Johnson, vying for title of stupidest senator although he has a lot of competition, claims hundreds of thousands of Americans died from Covid vaccine. In fact just about every family lost someone to Covid vaccine. Don't ask for evidence. He also claimed "thousands" of doctors, none of whom he can name, told him they knew hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin cure Covid but we're not permitted to say so. How they were prevented he didn't specify. Who was president in 2020?
 
Got my coronavirus and flu shots 2 days ago. It's my 3rd Nov. or Dec. for 1 in each arm.

Always remember...4000 Americans per DAY died from Covid at its peak, till the shots brought down the number.

Bush's 20-year torture war was sparked by fewer deaths than that on 9/11.
 
Trump is now pledging to withdraw US from World Health Organization which will surely improve public health and response to global epidemics.

Nobody will ever convince me those numbers aren’t complete horseshit. No increase in excess deaths overall compared to other years and a flu virus that magically disappeared during that time. Ridiculously obvious how the numbers were skewed.
I vote we rename cancer “scary new disease” in 2025 and see what the numbers do.

Most people don't realize that excess and all cause mortality went up considerably in 2021, and they deaths hit after most of the country was vaccinated. In many states, there was actually little to no raise in excess death in 2020. This is Oregon for example. It was no different than any other year, then we get the huge spike in 2021.


The graphs for most states look something like this. On the flip side, there are some states that saw a massive spike in death in March 2020, which started precisely when the pandemic, and all it's measures were implemented. Measures which were themselves the cause of a good portion of the increased in deaths.

Now watch people twist themselves into a pretzel to explain how these graphs are compatible with the idea of a super effective vaccine.

Calculations of excess mortality are used to measure the impact of COVID-19 on deaths. Between March 2020 and August 2022, the U.S. had nearly 1.2 million more deaths than expected, with approximately 635,000 in the first year and 544,000 in the second year.

The flu was not a novel virus and is far less easily spread than covid. The lockdowns virtually eliminated one if the main strains of the flu so that we no longer even distribute vaccines for it.

False. There was plenty of excess mortality before the vaccine. Then so many people refused to take it that when we opened back up the unvaccinated were dropping like flies.

Nearly every hospital that was releasing the numbers of vaccinated and unvaccinated people with covid showed almost no vaccinated people in the hospital for covid compared to dozens of unvaccinated.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people died. My ex-wife's Aunt Edie was one of the first deaths in May 2020. She had gone blind, but I used to transfer her in the restaurant between chair and wheelchair. I enjoyed picking up that cute babe in her 90s. And I think she liked me.

We won't know the full extent of the pandemic for a decade or more, because by the end of the first lock-down, our government was already more interested in commerce than keeping people safe. The numbers will be under-reported because of that conflict of interest. We probably lost 2x as many people to COVID or its complications than has officially been reported. I hope in the future this era is taught in schools as being absolutely shameful and nihilistic.
