That's a great question. The things I had seen suggested researchers were skeptical about reactivation, but having read more about it, it seems like an open question still.

We don't need actual immunity to get past this. Flu shots don't provide immunity. They provide resistance--you're much less likely to get it and, if you do get it, it should be much weaker. It would certainly be bad news if we don't get chicken pox like immunity, but "immunity" (or resistances) come in all sorts of grades and durations.
