I knew this plastic surgeon (not that close, but worked withwho passed away. They are gonna crack down hard.

Another plastic surgeon friend is not doing well either right now.

My friend, who is a Primary Care Physician, only got his first shot on Saturday. He said his Medical Assistant is out with COVID-symptoms.

Coworkers daughter tested positive, she's in quarantine now but has tested negative so far.

Damn, just found out my aunt passed away. She’d just been hospitalized for Covid-19 a few days ago. She was my favorite aunt from my dad’s side of the family. Used to always overfed me with her delicious gumbo.

Another aunt (her older sister) had it too but recovered within a week. Didn’t need hospitalization.

This shit is as real as can get.

My condolences, Amigo... really sorry to hear that! :(

So sorry to hear about your aunt!

Our senior friends that live in Carson Wa. just got vaccinated yesterday. Early 70's. No underlying conditions.
I read where Oregon's testing is even down 28% compared with Nov and we've only used about 1/3 of the vaccines that were shipped here going a month ago.

It's been a whole 24 hours, and no one has posted this? This is where I can't stand the double standard of this forum. This guy is the worst of them all.

Two faced, "moral superiority" is.
I'm not following. What am I missing? Aren't all governors saying the same thing? Aren't we all dealing with the same unmanageable mess? Isn't Cuomo across the country? Kind of, who cares? was half my point.

And if there was ever a time for a group, let's say liberals for example, to feel a pretty justified sense of moral superiority, I mean, come on...

governors in every state are dealing with an unmanageable mess. The fed under trump has abdicated nearly all responsibility. The CDC has been gutted, marginalized, and mostly silenced. The states have limited resources and cratering budgets because of the pandemic. Governors are basically fucked, no matter which party they belong to

even under those conditions, many states have done much better at managing the unmanageable than the federal government. But Hawaii is the only state that can effectively close it's borders. Anti-mask morons from Idaho can freely travel to Oregon. And the Christmas/New Year's surge is starting to slam into an exhausted population and nearly broken hospitals.

So yeah, of course, lets worry about Cuomo's inconsistent messaging

I've got an in-law who is a nurse that said Cuomo is their hero (he's been touted as such). Told them they and the front line workers were mine.

I feel Oregon is behind the curve as compared to other Sates where both testing and vaccinations, logistics, have outpaced ours.

i disagree, at least in part:

I see one state doing better; the only state that can effectively close it's borders, Hawaii

State ranking of deaths/million (last column):

upload_2021-1-12_10-43-13.png

Oregon has more people than those last 4 states combined

state ranking of tests/million (last column):

upload_2021-1-12_10-45-40.png

now, if Oregon is close to doing the best in terms of both cases/million and deaths/million, they are doing just fine in their testing rate

as for vaccinations, there doesn't seem to be a clear concise answer for why Oregon is lagging behind other states. But there sure does appear to be some bureaucratic constipation somewhere in the mix

I read this:

upload_2021-1-12_11-0-23.png

my first thought was WTF??? why the hell did this committee not have any meeting until Jan 7???

I'd have thought they should have stated work over a month ago. It makes no sense, at all, to me that they didn't have a meeting about vaccination process until 5 days ago.

now, this isn't all just on Oregon. From that same article, a section about CDC protocols:

I'd ask the same type of question...why is there no clarity from the CDC about phases 2-4

https://www.opb.org/article/2021/01/11/oregon-coronavirus-vaccine-schedule-covid-19-pandemic/

maybe there's some hope:

I understand putting teachers before us old farts, which goes against CDC. Im not opposed to taking a more decentralized approach for each State it seems they could learn from one anther in terms of logistcs and what works well.
I though The Gov did a decent job of keeping the cases down during the first several months, its our snail pace of in testing and vaccines.

like I pointed out, if the testing is way ahead, comparatively, of cases and deaths, it's not a slow pace

vaccinations are another story. I will say I've heard from a source in state government that the budget is totally hammered shit and there's no pool of available funds for anything. That's understandable I guess

That's not good.
