Courtside: Blazers "thrilled" with Oden's progress

Meh. It's not as if the organization has any credibility left to lose.

Brian T Smith ...

I like him too, but i consider him a foreigner now. The pickins are slim to none. I would go with Wheels. But I still like MB. He provides good info, even if it is with a home team slant. But he still gives great insight about other teams. That I like.

Not sure how you reached that conclusion. The typical recovery time for microfracture surgery is a year, just like they said when he had the surgery at the end of November.

The typical recovery time might be a year. But Oden is apparently WAY ahead schedule so shouldn't he be ready to play now?

But Greg is probably gone, don't you think? We give him the one year qualifying offer, he takes it, and then he's free to go.

Unless we have an incredible year, if there is a year, I think he bolts. That's what he meant I think when he said the ball was actually in his court.

Frankly, Oden actually being ahead of schedule (if it's true) is a huge surprise and I very carefully say "good news", it's always seemed he is very slow to recover.

If he didn't have surgery until January, being way ahead of schedule could well mean "He'll be able to play in October."

They also said that Roy has looked great. Antonio Harvey said that he'll be "different, but just as effective."

They also said that Chad Buchanan had prioritized bringing in really good character guys.

Blah blah blah.

If Oden's looking great, why haven't they signed him to a QO?

Ed O.

The rumor I heard was the management want to wait until the 11th hour because Greg is a very high risk for spontaneous human combustion.

I take the opposite of what Abbott says, the opposite of what Barrett says, and combine them.

Just out of curiosity, who do you guys believe most in the media regarding the Blazers? Right now at this moment

Nobody who works for the organization (that includes HCP). They're sunshine pumpers and company pitchmen.

And you find this to be unusual in professional sports that teams try to put an optimistic spin on their situations? I can just imagine in my mind the TV promos if they hired MM and Natebishop3 to do them. "Well folks, the Blazers suck and are going to continue to do so until Buchanan finally is canned and they hire a new GM that actually has a pair so that he'll fire McMillan's sorry ass. Oden's broken down again, as usual, and Roy should be renamed "The Shell", but hey, support your Blazers and buy a few tickets. I mean, hey, what else are you going to do? Watch soccer?"

it's been working for the Mariners/Sounders. :)

Fan reaction: "I find your honesty really, really refreshing. Character matters more to me than winning or talent, so put me down for a season ticket package."

Anyone getting nervous? Still no news about what was supposed to be a definite QO.

It's not the last day of June, so I'm not freaking my shit out... but it is starting to get a little warm in the kitchen.

It seems to me there are either one or two decisions that have to be made.

The first is whether or not to extend GO a QO. If we don't, then there's something seriously, genetically and unrecoverably wrong with Oden.

The second--if the answer is that we're going to extend a QO--is whether to extend the one year QO or the max QO. The max may not be such a ridiculous idea, if you have an idea that the new CBA is going to be more owner friendly. Right now it would be six years, but what if under the new CBA it were four years? What if there were an amnesty clause? What if salaries are significantly reduced?
