Using "racism" as a catch-all for discrimination against religion or nationality is a horrible horrible horrible choice.

Why? The actions are exactly the same. I would argue that saying "it's not racist because I'm only talking about a nationality or religion" makes someone sound out of touch...

This post has absolutely no substance. Ask a French person whether or not they believe that term is derogatory. Ever been to France? I have. I've been speaking French since 7th grade. I used to babysit for my French teacher who was French. Use your Goddamn brain for once when you post. Again you're arguing semantics. You tend to do this and get all flustered when the topic steers into discrimination issues.

You can't handle it. Your the only one I here getting butthurt about it and it's always you. You don't even know if the term is derogatory but you will argue against it. Typical Nate.

Ha! This party was already well underway by the time I got here. You dropped that bomb on Schilly and you were arguing with multiple people. Don't make this out like I started this shindig.

Natebishop arguing while sitting atop his dais of privilege.

You don't know me. Quite frankly, I think you are one of the most racist people on this forum. You constantly make comments about white people and generalizations about people you perceive to be white.

You know whats crazy?

The term Indian Giver. Its meant as a slight against native Americans for not keeping their word.

The fucked up part about it is it was the white man who didn't keep their promise to the Indians. IT was the white Euro infiltration that screwed the Indians over, yet we use the term as a slight.

Pretty disgusting really how we could actually flip it around like that.

Of course you do. Those who experience white privilege and don't recognize it consistently have this attitude that racism effects them.

:blahblah:

Right?? Another term I grew up using and took out of my vernacular. Why? Well we know why. I'd wager to say Nate knows why too.

Well there goes another thread.

smh

You guys realize that we're on the verge of eliminating a rival team in an unbelievable playoff run, right?

Take this shit to PMs already.

Who moderates the moderators when they use personal attacks? :dunno:

Schilly and I already did. Nate (a moderator who breaks forum rules) refuses to.

And THERE it is. The fact that you think statements like that are cool, while tossing a dude under the bus for saying "Frenchie" is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

rac·ism
ˈrāˌsizəm/
noun
  1. the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Your statement is textbook racism. Just thought you should know that. You're worried about gypped or welched and you're throwing out the very definition of racism like it's nothing.

So white privilege does not exist or I experience it? Which one is it?

Your post makes you sounds like an idiot.

And yes Nate. In this country ALL white people experience the privilege of being white in America.

Bringing light to this FACT doesn't make me racist...

I don't understand how you can say that you changed your mind about using words like gypped or welched, but you think it's perfectly fine to tell all white people that they have white privilege.

The definition of racism is that you think that ALL MEMBERS of each race possess a characteristic or ability specific to that race. So how do you not see that saying that all white people having privilege is racist? The facts are there dude. Plain as day.

I'm not denying in any way that White privilege exists...but not all white people experience it.

You don't have a clue... You just don't... Worse off, you won't even try to have a clue...

The fact that you are arguing against the existence of white privilege lets me know that we should simply end the conversation between us. Let's you and I be done now. You will never get it.

Calling me a racist while saying white privilege doesn't exist.... Jesus...

I'm not denying in any way that White privilege exists...but not all white people experience it.

That in itself makes no sense. It wouldn't be called white privilege if all whites didn't experience it.

Me thinks some of you have a skewed view of what that privilege is.

I never said that white privilege doesn't exist. I said that you attributing it to all white people, without any knowledge of who they are or their story, is racist. You just start tossing out assumptions about people. About me. About Schilly.

I showed you how that attitude was the very definition of racism and instead of chewing on it, you did the same thing you ALWAYS do, which is throw up your hands, claim it's on me, and bail. You refuse to look at yourself.

Why is it that Italians and the Irish are no longer treated the way they were when they first came? There was no such thing as the term white before America existed. Those with light skin were assimilated as a we against them approach to the race problem.

@Natebishop

My name is Damany Iqwé. First off try pronouncing that. Not sure what your last name is but let's assume it's Jones.

When an employer sees my name and then sees Nathaniel Jones on a resume next to it and doesn't call me because he may think that I am not white, you have just experienced privilege without even knowing it.

So... Just stop it...

Nah it makes total sense. There are white people which live as deeply below the poverty line as black people. They clearly have not experienced white privilege... You could argue they haven't taken advantage of it of course, but regardless they have not experienced it. In a lot of ways poverty is a great blind equalizer... Again it doesn't mean that the privilege isn't there.

And there is your skewed View. Your level of poverty does not determine your privilege. White Privilege does not mean you are more monied than the next man who may be black. Just like black lives matter doesn't mean white lives don't.

White Privilege means that when New York was stopping and frisking people they thought they were suspicious, out of the 100% of people who were frisked, only 10% of them were white.

You're only making yourself look more stupid.

Seriously dude, read those two statements and tell me where I've got it wrong.

You said, "It wouldn't be called white privilege if all whites didn't experience it."

"All whites" = all members of each race

"Experience it" = possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race.

Where am I getting it wrong?

How do you mute a thread? Tired of seeing this shit at the top of the forum?

I'll give you an example. My father grew up in poverty. His family lived in a tent in a logging camp just outside an Indian Reservation in California. This was in the 1950's. He went to school at the reservation, the only white kid in the school. He had to learn to fight quickly just to earn enough respect to not get his ass kicked everyday. There is no privilege in that, nobody was saying "hey you are white here's your free hand out in life". When he was 16 he lied about his age so he could get a job as a butcher. He caught his hand in a bandsaw and hacked the hell out of it. When they took him to the DR they found out his age and he was fired... Nobody cared if he was white.

HAHAHAHAH OMG THIS THREAD!!

LOL ROUND 3 FIGHT!

DING!

Is that white privilege or racism towards black people?

This isn't going to change his opinion. Your dad was white, therefor he benefited from white privilege. That point is honestly neither here nor there. The point isn't whether white privilege exists. Nobody is saying that white privilege doesn't exist. The point is that Dviss presumes to know the story of every single white person in America. Hell, he assumes that everyone on this board is a white man. I'm tired of the hypocritical nature of his posting. He's the first person to jump on you if you post something that he perceives to be racism, but then he quickly turns around and spews this crap about white privilege on anyone that disagrees with him.
