CRABBE MATCHED

I believe Crabbe being matched along with signing Meyers puts us right at the luxury tax.

I should at this point adopt the casual fan mindset of not giving a rats ass about the $$ because I don't have to write the checks.

If you want to write checks and cover that I'm sure the Blazers wouldn't say no. I bet they'd even throw in a few 300 level seats.

Isn't Paul Allen like the 2nd richest owner in the NBA? Combine that with his health issues, he probably wants to win and the best way for us is to match and keep our players and occasionally trading or adding outsides talent. I know if I was PA, I'd have no problem paying what he will have to.

Are Net fans butthurt? I saw one on BE earlier being kind of butthurt.

That and if the cap went up $30mil that means each owner is sitting on an additional $30 or so from that TV deal so it's not really extra money out of his pocket anyway.

Dame and CJ play first 6-8 minutes together then CJ subs out. Plays PG first half of 2nd qtr.
That's right! I think with that being said Turner will come off the bench and stay in while Dame and CJ each sub out.

I think Turner will definitely end up finishing the games, as he has said in previous interviews he doesn't really care about starting---more about being in and finishing the game.

Reading the Nets message board, many of them seemed to have been excited to get him.

Can someone refresh my memory on the substitution patterns with Dame and CJ? When do they usually come out in th first quarter? If I remember correctly I think Dame plays almost the entire first and sits the last two and a few into the second. With that being the case I think Turner comes off the bench for Dame or CJ so we have two ball handlers in at all times. Crabbe or Harkless would start to provide 4 three point shooters and allow space for whatever big man (Plumlee or Festus) to PNR to the basket.
My Guess:

1Q / 12:00-8:00
Lillard/McCollum/Turner
8:00-4:00
Lillard/McCollum/Harkless
4:00-End 1Q
Lillard/Crabbe/Turner

2Q / 12:00-8:00
McCollum/Turner/Crabbe
8:00-6:00
McCollum/Crabbe/Harkless
6:00-4:00
Lillard/Crabbe/Harkless
4:00-End 2Q
Lillard/McCollum/ ETorAC

Repeat for 2nd half.

Ball handlers in bold

Almost always have two ball handlers on the court.

Always have at least 2 shooters (Out of Lillard, CJ, Crabbe) on court.

Projects to

Lillard/CJ 36mpg
Turner 28mpg
Crabbe 28mpg
Harkless 16mpg

It will probably alternate based on the score and the opposition. If we are behind and need 3's....Crabbe will be in there at the end.
If we are up and need to protect the ball.....ET.

The contract amount “doesn’t matter,” Olshey said. Then the Blazer GM had a suggestion for the media: “Let us worry about the money. You guys worry about the players and how well or how poorly we play and how guys are developing. We’ll worry about how we manage our cap and what guys get paid.”

Sure, Neil. Go out and spend Paul Allen’s dollars the way you see fit, and we’ll just trust that you’re making good decisions. Our job in the media is to support you and cheerlead and cross our fingers that you know what you’re doing.

That’s certainly the way Blazer fans want us to behave.

Olshey made another comment that astounded me: “Guys’ value is based on what they bring to the team, and I can assure you Nicolas will absolutely live up to this contract.”

Remember when some fans/media used to suggest that Paul Allen's days of over spending on the Blazers were long gone. And a few of us, more sane fans, would argue that he is only waiting for the team to get better........

It doesn't matter now, what's done is done. I hope he lives up to the hype.

I also had the thought that maybe this just means Olshey really is going to try and flip CJ for a guy like Boogie or whomever in a package deal.

If Crabbe proves he can be a big time scorer, his size and defense at SG might make CJ expendable.

At least NO has the chance to find out.

Nets fans definitely wanted Crabbe. They are salty af

With the Blunder imploding there's no clear cut third team in the west. It's obvious who will win the championship but if we play our cards right we could be wcfs fodder.

From his instagram it looks like Crabbe is working on his stepback 3 this offseason.
Reminds me when Wes came back one year and had a consistent stepback we'd never seen before.

The Blazers have the talent to be really good defensively. This is where they need to really improve. If they can, they will cause a lot of problems

And then we're one injury away from having a very real shot at the finals.

That team might not work smoothly, so maybe if we could outrun them and rough them up (which we have the pieces to do) then we can give ourselves a chance.

No brainer indeed.

I was half expecting Leonard and Mo to get $15M offers.

I think they'll match Mo or just sign him like we did Meyers.
