CRABBE MATCHED

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

And then we're one injury away from having a very real shot at the finals.

That team might not work smoothly, so maybe if we could outrun them and rough them up (which we have the pieces to do) then we can give ourselves a chance.
The way we are built, we could give GS trouble. We are far more versatile than they are. We can go big, small, fast, long, etc. GS is kinda in a bind with their lineup.

Curry / Livingston
Klay / Clark / McCaw
Iggy / Looney
Durant / West / McAdoo
Green / ZaZa / Jones

They lost some firepower and flexibility.

OK -- You all know i was SO SO SO against them matching and i am still not a fan BUT after further thought i do understand WHY they did it. They are banking that Crabbe i would say lives up to the deal but not sure that's possible so live up to 75% of the deal. I do think he COULD become an asset in the future but now i do think you have to consider letting Hark walk UNLESS you decide to trade Vonleh or something cause it just seems like too many players and too few minutes.

Assuming Moe comes back, where does that put our bench ranking in the league?

I agree. Of course I'd rather trade Aminu and Plumee (for a pick) and resign Harkless than let him go. That would thin us out a bit, and I think Harkless has much higher upside than either of those two.

Dame/Turner
CJ/Crabbe
Crabbe/Turner
Harkless/Davis
Ezeli/Leonard

I like the versatility of that rotation a lot. Scraps for Napier, Vonleh, Connaughton, Layman, Montero.

Turner can play three positions, Harkless two, Crabbe two. Some insurance against injuries.

I said this in the other thread but it is applicable here as well....
Keep Harkless too, and play out the the season (or half the season) and let the creme rise to the top. Keep the best and let the others go. Even if you get nothing in return, it would be the same as if you let them walk now. Sure we could make a trade now, but I would not mind waiting..

This reminds me a bit of the team Whitsitt built leading up to the trade to get Pippen (minus the head cases) really deep with young guys and room to develop. That team had to play a season before Bob was able to turn them into Pippen.

Remember when some fans/media used to suggest that Paul Allen's days of over spending on the Blazers were long gone. And a few of us, more sane fans, would argue that he is only waiting for the team to get better........

He hasn't over spent yet.

Hopefully Crabbe lives up to the contract. Easy to cheer for on a rookie deal but when you are the 2nd highest paid player on the team, there are a lot more expectations. To be honest, there almost has to be a trade at some point...especially if they sign Harkless. With Aminu starting at the '4', there are just too many guys at the center spot and with Dame/CJ/Crabbe/Turner/Harkless (if they sign him), someone is getting left out at the 1-3 spots.

Festsus/Plums/Davis - Very few minutes for Davis if any
Aminu/Leonard/Vonleh - Vonleh won't see the court
Turner/Harkless/Montero/Layman - Not many minutes for Harkless if they keep him
CJ/Crabbe/Connaugton - Not many minutes for Crabbe at $18M/year
Dame/CJ/Turner/Napier - Napier is just the double emergency backup.

You are a legit 2-deep at every spot with some big time rotation players just not getting many minutes....especially if they keep Harkless. There almost has to be a consolidation trade at some point just to keep them out of the Lux Tax next year.

Right now, without Harkless the Blazers are just over the salary cap. They could likely still sign Harkless and stay under the Lux Tax for this year but come next year with CJ and Plumlee....look out.

I have to ask everyone that's disappointed we matched: why exactly are you disappointed????
As I opined in another thread, I believe Crabbe is an inconsistent one trick pony who's ceiling is as a journeyman. I honest to God hope I'm wrong and that you true believers will rub my nose in this opinion next season (Be sure to bookmark this Bones). But I'm not holding my breath. And I can't help but feel his contract is going to hamstring us down the road. In Neil I trust but that doesn't mean he's immune to bad decisions......

Exactly.

He's still so young. I like this move. He's expensive as hell, but I think there will be a consolidation move in the future.

Also.... Kent fucking Bazemore is getting 70 million.

Lol....what's with the Bazemore 'love'?

Per 36:
Crabbe:........14.2 points, 3.7 rebs, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals on .459 FG shooting and .393 from the arc.
Bazermore: 15.1 points, 6.6 rebs, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals on .441 FG shooting and .357 from the arc.

Bazemore has better production in every category, some significantly so except for shooting percentage. Almost double the rebounds and assists and much more able to set up teammates...actually has a little bit of a handle. I'm not a huge Bazemore fan but did he steal your lunch money or something?

Bazemore is three years older. He's smaller, and he's a worse shooter. It's not like we need our backup shooting guard to grab boards.

Yes....we are all aware of his age. He is a slightly worse shooter and much more productive in other parts of his game. Just wondered how he earned a 'f***ing' nickname every time. :bgrin:

Nyetz fanz are singing the blues over this, and fantasizing about a revenge max offer for CJ next silly season . . .

Then Nets fans are idiots. Unlike Crabbe, who has not yet lived up to this contract, C.J. has already proven he's worth the max and will get the max whether BRK makes an offer, or not. We can, and will, offer C.J. more than BRK can. There is no such thing as a revenge offer, in this case.

When was the last time a RFA actually moved teams? When was the last time PA gave up talent without compensation?

If you answered both these questions, you knew that there was no way this wasn't going to be matched.

RFA in general or actual good player RFA?

Lopez, LMA, Matthews?

RFAs change teams often enough. Asik was RFA not matched by the Bulls.
