If Portland trades Dame to Miami for less than Miami could have offered, then I think it'll be something agents (and players) will try moving forward. Otherwise it'll either be a non-factor or even a cautionary tale to players.

Like LeVeon Bell sitting out a whole year, going to the Jets for a bit more money in the short run, and basically ending his career, sometimes players overplay their hands and it is possible that could happen here to Dame.

It's going to be bad enough if we do end up trading him to Miami, but if we don't get every asset not nailed down, I think Joe should be fired.

pure cockiness on Miami’s part. “We’ll give up a few seconds, no problem, we don’t have to conserve assets for Portland, they’ll take whatever we’re willing to give them.”
 
Feels like this could end in a Vince Carter trade sort of way and that makes me sick honestly.
 
Not a big Jaylen Brown guy. Better than whatever Miami is offering though. The idea of Dame going there and causing a fuss Kyrie style until he somehow lands in Miami is pretty funny though.

I think we could get serious value for Brown in moving him elsewhere, avoiding having to pay him the supermax and dealing with his desire to be the center of a team's offense (if that's really an issue, as has been hinted).

Houston may be willing to give up some juicy pieces to take Jaylen, where he'd been rumored to have interest before, as an example.

When AD did it he at least had actual leverage being that he only had the year left on his deal. Dame doing it somehow feels far more petty and desperate.

The general feeling I get from scouring national media is of incredulity at Goodwin's comments and Dame's demands to go to one team. If this is the worst they can do, Joe comes out ahead in both public perception and in negotiation. Now the tricky thing is tactfully reengaging other teams. I don't have confidence in Cronin to do this but let's see
 
Yea have all of July, August & September for an equitable trade to happen.
People need to cool their jets....

Dame and Joe need to take a 2 week vacation, and all us forum freaks need to calm down, and tune out the noise and be optimistic and less judgmental. No need to take prisoners or become tribal.

Funny thing is, the guy I want most from their team in a Dame trade (Brogdon), is the most gettable guy.

They got nothing for Vince and at the end of the day he won jack shit in New Jersey, now he's retired and though they've softened up on him a bit, he was getting booed mercilessly for years. I was in Toronto during that primo pasta era of Raptors ball. So I guess it's the aftermath that I see a comparison to. I can't imagine Dame letting rebounds pass by out of bounds like Vince was doing. He would pass up dunks on fast breaks. It was insane actually.

Couldn't Miami try to route Herro to Utah and use Ainge's picks as sweetner in a 3rd team deal? Herro seems like an Ainge type player.

Bro, what? Dame was the only guy that wanted to stay with our shitty franchise.

For that, I’m always 100% thankful. I hope to see him back winning a ring so he can get a statue outside Moda.
