"bUt wE pAId hIM" is such a stupid argument, like Lillard wouldn't have gotten a max from any team in the league.

My off the wall theory is Goodwin said to Dame "Let me put this shit out here, just sit back, I'm working with Pat Riley here and we have a plan"
Hopefully it goes the same way the Bouma Ndiaye plan went...

The number of dumbasses over every social media plateform thinking Lillard is the bad guy like Cronin didn't get exactly what he wanted is astonishing. Lillard wants to go to Miami, big deal, maybe the FO should have thought about the repercution before fucking him over and acting in bad faith. Be fucking honest Cronin

Ha "Be fucking honest Cronin"?
I have no idea what really happened, but you know who else doesn't? ......you.
So stop acting like you do.

Some good stuff in Woj's most recent article on ESPN. Here are some highlight quotes:
  • "As he executes the exit of the greatest player in franchise history, executives talking to Cronin describe him as devoid of sentiment. Business for Lillard, business for the Blazers."
  • "Goodwin is telling organizations outside of Miami that trading for Lillard is trading for an unhappy player. As interference goes, this is a time-honored agent maneuver to depress offers and clear a path to a predetermined destination. General managers who talked with ESPN suggested that pressure won't impact how they'll proceed. They would have Lillard under contract for four years, and believe his default mechanism would remain playing hard and well."
  • "Cronin has made it clear his allegiance is to the franchise's future, not its past."
  • "Portland doesn't want guard Tyler Herro and the four years and $120 million owed on his extension, but there are teams that have told ESPN they would surrender a good first-round pick to the Blazers -- maybe something more -- to become a facilitator by taking on Herro in a three-way deal."
  • "This is the trade of Joe Cronin's NBA life. It doesn't have to go quickly, but it does have to go right."

WOJ has been extremely consistent in his messaging about this situation over the last 10 days. It's very 'Blazers will be patient and do what's best for Blazers'. Doesn't seem like Cronin talks or leaks to media, much, but it sure looks like he talks toe Woj

Goodwin will be hurting his credibility if this goes for awhile. His clients will be hurt due that GM will not want to deal with him at all. Not saying he shouldn't do what his client wants but if he putting out bull shit out there and that's gets around that could hurt other clients he has down the road.

he only has about 4 clients IIRC. Dame, DeRozan, Thybulle are three of them

Fuck you to anyone doubting my fandom because i'm angry at the ownership and FO
In fact, I think it's pretty obvious that the fact that you're angry at the ownership and FO are because you're a fan, rather than evidence against it. You wouldn't be emotional about perceived misuse and mistreatment of the team's cornerstone player if you didn't care about the team.

Thanks for sharing this! Seriously folks, if you want a national media member to stand up to the Heat propaganda machine face to face, this is the podcast for you! Holy mother. Howard was a professional about it, but every time those Heat honks tried to sell their side, he shut them down emphatically. It was beautiful.

Seriously, everyone NEEDS watch all three segments of this podcast.
Watched it this morning. Definitely refreshing for sure. As with damn near every YT video I click on, I like to go to the comment sections. Some of those comments............whew boy. But THIS one takes the cake. My goodness.

Joe has to do well here because he has to beat this reputation. This probably played a huge rule in him getting crap offers before the draft.

Yep, he's negotiating for his career.

And, unlike Neil and others who had some career longevity, I question how well off he is financially having been an underling in the front office for the last 20 years... You don't get any sort of even reasonable payday until you reach those top couple tiers...

I think the most nonsensical part is the reply to the initial comment obvious but specifically something that people in this forum act like has happened, "Dame made it clear he will not suit up for any team every again unless it's for the Heat." Dame hasn't said a fucking thing. His agent has only told a bunch of GMs that if they trade for him he won't be happy. That's a very weak threat... not that he won't report, not that he will sit, just that he won't be happy and we know even that weak threat is posturing.

Dame wants to be in Miami but I bet he'd be happy to be in Brooklyn or Philly or a few other places too... he just wants to get his number one option if he can.

If Dames agent did call up other teams and tell them that, there needs to be punishment. That's tampering.

Dame pressed us for the 2 year super max extension last offseason that added two more years to his deal. No other team could have offered that. He didn’t need to sign that, he could have been a free agent after this season if he didn’t and truly hold all the cards

I don’t think it has anything to do with Dame wanting out, many don’t fault him for that. It’s handcuffing us by only saying Miami, but now his agent coming out calling other teams trying to scare them off a Dame trade.

it’s truly painting the Blazers in a corner and that’s not cool, and where the heat is coming from.

The Sixers didn’t trade Simmons right away, they wanted more value for him and held him for a whole season until they turned him into Harden.

The Nets didn’t trade Durant last offseason, they wanted Bridges and the Suns didn’t want to part with him. Until they did by the trading deadline.

Portland has every right to drag this out as long as possible to get the value for Dame they feel is right. It’s simple.
