I think both can be true.

This doesnt make Scoot expendable at all, in fact it probably hamstrings us with him unfortunately.

This was a legacy play for sure. It doesnt really do much for the team this year, and really the fruits of anything wont be seen for another year (if dame comes off the bench, which honestly should be his only choice). Scoot is just not a #3 pick bonafide superstar PG. That much is clear.

So this doesnt help us long term. But I do love having him back. I wont get caught up in all the fanfare because thats just media playing to my emotions instead of the team on the floor playing to them. Once I learned that I tuned out watching anything Blazers until the front office actually puts a winning team on the floor. Until then, its just the media and the team selling us a bad bill of goods.

People wont read that I love having dame back, so ill say it here again.

Scoot will have this entire season coming up - his 3rd - to show what he can do (again).
 
There's obviously a plan in place. They didn't wake up this morning and say "we should get Dame back and figure everything out later". Whatever it is, Dame must be okay with it and even if the plan is to trade Scoot, they'll put him in a position to be as successful as possible for trade value.
My guess is Dame will only come back this year if the team is doing well. He'll be a huge motivating addition for the stretch and Jrue will only be here for one year.

Him or Scoot will be traded at the deadline or something even bigger will go down.

I kind of thought he would only be here until the deadline but now I have no idea but again something big.

Why on earth would we trade Scoot?

I think hes mid and not worth a lot in trade as is, but why would we have two over the hill PGs and then trade the 20 or 21 year old dude? Thats just bad business lol.

I just did the Dougie for about fifteen minutes. All is right in the world right now. I HATED SEEING DAME IN ANOTHER Uniform.

And before the haters say "You're just nostalgic". No, it's not that. Dame can help us, he has helped us. Hell, it's because of Dame we have this team. This may have been his plan the entire time. Cant' wait to hear he and Cronin talk

I mean as long as he's some measure of himself, getting him at 14M a year is pretty great.

Yep his plan was to force a trade. Say his only place is to Miami. Then joe said "ha, fool. Youre going to milwaukee" then he got just the right people to be traded from Milwaukee, then trade jrue to someone else, get nurk (one of his best friends) off the team to get toumani because thats exactly how that'd all work.

Just to come back here.

As constructed this wont pay hopeful dividends for about 4 to 5 years, but at least they got rid of ayton and simons.

Its a better offseason than most, but still years away from getting fans who will wait out the bullshit they feed us.

But this is a start. We shall see if/how they fuck this up.

Glad to have dame back though.
