Not sure how I feel and if I’m Scoot I’m feeling a bit insecure about what future holds. First they add Jrue and now Dame. Although this could simply be signing him as courtesy I think he has player option for 27-28 so he could easily opt out once healthy

Typically, NTCs can't be moved because the underlying player is getting paid the max. There are plenty of implied NTCs that do get traded, like players that are on the QO after their rookie contracts - because their deals are smaller.

Not that Dame is gonna get traded anyways, this is clearly bigger than basketball.

I don't see a problem with Jrue/Scoot/Dame. When Dame is able to play again, he'll be an amazing microwave shooter off the bench. I definitely don't want a hobbled Dame running the old Dame-centric offense. I hope to god the Blazers have moved past that type of offense with the players we currently have.
 
but on the Jrue thing good chance Jrue is traded either at trade deadline OR next offseason -- assuming Dame makes a full recovery but I have every hope in the world he will
 
I'm as big a Dame fan as anybody but I'm not really crazy about giving him a full MLE deal. Seems a bit much considering Dame makes the same salary with the MLE or a vet minimum. Maybe there were other competitors offering the MLE

This clearly knocks Portland out of any chance at clearing the space necessary to extend Avdija. But maybe, probably, almost certainly, Avdija was going to be UFA in 2028 in any case
 
So fast forward a year. Lillard is 100% healthy. Scoot is still here. Will old man Jrue being owed another 70m be untradeable like Grant and Ayton?
 
So the hope is Scoot makes the jump this season and we trade Jrue in the offseason?
