Dame in Milwaukee thread (2 Viewers)

I thought Damian tended to burn out before the playoffs

that's because he had to carry the Blazers down the stretch, as the #1 scorer and the only player who could consistently run the offense

besides, I don't think it was so much that he was burnt out but because teams could flex their defense to double, triple, and trap Dame constantly and none of Dame's teammates had the gravity to make the opponent pay for that. It's going to be much harder to double and trap Dame this season because of Giannis and Middleton. I'm not even sure teams will try

They might? Another thing I would look to is if Gianni’s gets hurt or possibly needs some rest days. The Bucks clearly have a second option that is proven to be able to take over and win a game. At this point he has not been asked to do that.

I think the Bucks are going to end up regretting trading for Damian, mostly because he's not going to change who he is on the defensive end.

Milawaukee's playoff failures the last 2 seasons have been because their offense sputtered, not their defense. They were rolling the dice that Dame's bad defense would be more than offset by his great offense, and that the team's good defense could compensate (Jrue is actually older than Dame by the way). And so far, it's looking like a decent bet if you look at their net rating:

2020-21....+6.1 (won championship)
2021-22....+3.3 (lost in 2nd round)
2022-23....+3.5 (lost in 1st round)
2023-24....+4.6 (3rd best record in NBA)

and this is with Dame struggling a bit with his shot and trying to fit into a role he's unused to, in part, because of a rookie coach

I don't think he's going to change who he is.... at all.

That's largely due to Middleton's health. Jettisoning Jrue doesn't fix the problem.

Just talked with a friend from Wauwatosa, and he says it no news that Dame is dealing with a divorce and the impact on he and his kids. They knew it would be an adjustment/distraction for a while.

Not totally sure on if this is over or not but it seems dame got his kids and things are over legally for a while anyway.

Not bittersweet at all. That was amazing as usual. I’m happy for Dame and hope he hits a similar shot to win a chip this season. He deserves nothing less. It was time to move on for both parties.
Hope he wins the big one and hits a big shot. Inevitably, we’ll also be able to see the Rockets and Thunder daggers every time the league starts to give him his flowers.

I can't believe, but completely believe, he knew that game winner was his 2500th three-pointer made. What an achievement.

Tears of sadness AND joy. I hope he wins it all this year so he gets his before we come to form and take him out in the finals in 27’-28’.

I can't believe Trae Young is gonna beat him for the starting spot.

You don’t think players and coaches both vote Dame in over Trae? Fan vote only matters as a tiebreaker if coaches and players are split right?

Says 50-50.
50% fan vote and then 25% for each media and players. The answer I'm finding is the only way to become a starter is by fan vote? I do not know if that is exactly true?
