Dame in Milwaukee thread (2 Viewers)

I think Dame's attraction to Miami was the coach as well as the tax perks . He left a rookie coach in Chauncey ato a rookie coach in Milwaukee. Not sure that was what he was going for. Spoelstra is a championship coach and Griffin is a guy even Terry Stotts quit on before tipoff. That to me is the dark part of the Bucks trade for Dame....the coaching. Had the Bucks hired Stotts as head coach, Dame would probably be happier and much more in his own zone.

I think he preferred Miami because it’s easier access to as much blow as he wants

If he's upset because someone else on the team is better than him, he wouldn't have been happy if Portland had managed to build a championship contender, because you don't win a championship with Dame as your #1.

Regular season won't cut it. Playoffs will show how happy this trade was. For him and his legacy, for Greek and for Bucks fans. This trade was always about playoffs, not about 24-9 reg season.

From what I have been seeing on Reddit, the Bucks fans are starting to really turn on Dame.

Good for them. Those fools obviously haven't been paying attention to Dame's career. The guy has cold streaks from three but they are so few and far between that he has a great career three point FG%. We all know he has slumps but in tonight's game he was shooting poorly from three but still ended up with 18 points on 16 shots and 8 assists with only 1 turnover. Sure his greatest weapon (the three point shot) wasn't falling for him tonight but even without that he had an effective game.

I'm just glad we got out of the Dame businesses. At some point the decline will be permanent.

He will drop 60 two times in March and fans will be in love.

But this take from reddit is interesting:

"Dame is top 3 All-Time in offensive rating, yet the dude cannot get a single good look in this offense. I haven't seen him with an open shot in like 2 weeks."

Defense will be even tougher for them in playoffs. They will have to sort this out.

The worst thing the Bucks did in the off season was fire Coach Bud before giving him an opportunity to work with Dame. Adrian Griffin is a bumbling fool, and makes Chauncey look like a tactical genius. Most of the decline in the team’s defensive efficiency is not because of the arrival of Dame, as many here would like to believe, but the horrific defensive schemes employed by the new coach. If the Bucks flame out in the playoffs (again) I wouldn’t be surprised to see Griffin fired this Summer.

that might connect to Stotts resigning before the season started. The Bucks are running Dame off of the ball a lot but his assisted FG% is 34% this season compared to 31.5% on the Blazers last year. And he has his lowest usage rate since 2014.

The Stotts departure was an omen. What will MIL do at the deadline?

Lillard’s been not very good. Middleton looks old. But they downgraded big time defensively when they lost Holiday and Allen.

not looking great in Milwaukee

IDK?
They are 25-11 overall.
16-3 at home which is exactly what contenders look to be. Dominant at home.
They are 9-8 on the road which is also exactly what a contender looks for on the road. Good teams look to win at least half or more of their road games.
Winning percentage overall is about .695. That looks pretty good to me? We all know Lillard picks it up around the All Star game and drives right on into the playoffs.

That sounds like a coaching issue...

I think the Bucks are going to end up regretting trading for Damian, mostly because he's not going to change who he is on the defensive end.

I thought Damian tended to burn out before the playoffs

I thought Damian tended to burn out before the playoffs

that's because he had to carry the Blazers down the stretch, as the #1 scorer and the only player who could consistently run the offense

besides, I don't think it was so much that he was burnt out but because teams could flex their defense to double, triple, and trap Dame constantly and none of Dame's teammates had the gravity to make the opponent pay for that. It's going to be much harder to double and trap Dame this season because of Giannis and Middleton. I'm not even sure teams will try
