Dame in Milwaukee thread

1. That supermax contract did no harm to the Blazers and was very much earned and deserved by Lillard.

2. Not signing Grant to that contract would have hurt the Blazers far more than letting him walk for nothing.

I did not say the super max hurt the Blazers. I said demanding a trade after signing it hurt the Blazers. And only demanding Miami, and having his agent speak to other teams about not trading for Dame are the things that hurt the Blazers. And yes, he earned the super max. No disagreement there.

As to Grant, we shall see. If they keep him for five years then he was always part of the rebuild and he bought in. If he demands a trade obviously he was not down with the rebuild, and if he is traded without asking out then he was not part of the rebuild and a mistake of a signing. Time will tell.

If Milwaukee and Phoenix meet in the Finals, we could see more former Blazers on the court simultaneously than was ever possible while they were Blazers. And not just because we never sniffed the Finals.

I think that if Milwakee and Phoenix meet in the Finals something bad happened to Jokic.

You know Olshey has already made multiple calls asking about how the valet parking is in Milwaukee.
Looks like this much of the season.

Perhaps. But if Phoenix: a) stays healthy, b) figures out how to gel all their wing talent, and c) finds enough productive role players, I don't think it would be an upset for them to get past Denver. That's a lot of if's, though.

That's fair. I was just being flippant.

Honestly, will anyone rank the Dame Years among the great periods of Blazer history? I mean it's not even top 4 for me. The last decade has pretty much dragged.
Looking back yes Dame had some great individual heroics and offensive stats, but his teams performed poorly because of lack of overall talent (not his fault)

sure would be nice if Blazers would bring in a top notch defensive coordinator

Isn't that supposed to be Billups' area of expertise?
Billups’s area of expertise was supposed to be placating Dame, but we saw how well that went. I don’t know if Billups is invested or qualified, but right now the stakes are so low it doesn’t much matter.

I thought Billups was supposed to be the Anti-Stotts, a defense-first coach.

I will admit I didn’t watch last season but I noticed this season our (NBA) opponents have hit 95 point before the end of the third quarter like every time so… if he was advertised as a defensive mind, I guess he isn’t minding right now.

Dame flat out stunk against OKC tonight...last I checked he was 0-5 from 3 and 20% from the floor for 4pts. Not many boards or dimes either. Made Kris Murray look like an allstar.
