...looks like Dames troublesome calf is already causing issues as he missed his first game last night. Hopefully not a bad omen for the Achilles!

so, Dame doesn't play against Indiana and the Bucks give up 126 points, 6 more than their average, and have a defensive rating more than 4 points worse than their average....with Dame out

maybe Milwaukee's defensive issues aren't because of Dame.

Maybe Milwaukee was way too eager to make Mike Budenholzer the scapegoat for last season's failures. And maybe, Milwaukee hired the wrong HC (with no HC experience) to fix the defense and incorporate Dame's talents into the offense.

In the coach with no experience's defense, he was not hired to incorporate Dame. Dame was dumped in his lap, most likely throwing all his plans out the window, good or bad.

Dame is a byproduct of losing Jrue, so whether or not Dame plays isn't the most significant element.

I had a discussion with a friend who is a Bucks fan. I told him, you can clearly see Dame is uncomfortable in Milwaukee, he doesn't wanna be there. I told him i bet he already regrets the trade demand. I think he would love to be back in Portland

I think he wants to be in Miami, not Portland.

I think he wasn't lying when he said he's right where he belong at media day. Basketball-wise it's a great situation, through I wish Terry is still there.

The discomfort you may see from his is likely due to his ongoing divorce and custody battle

I don’t think he likes the system. I suspect he also doesn’t like the coach.

He'll "stink it up" all the way to the hall of fame. Nobody will think twice about this season.

Whether fair or not, this season in the court of public opinion will sway a lot of people.

That said, I agree it won't affect the HoF enshrinement

So how bad will this season hurt his legacy if he continues to stink it up?
It depends on whether it's a dip (as is likely) or a permanent downturn.

If he is bad for all of this year and all of next year (to make something up), he suddenly turns into the worst contract in the NBA... yes, he still presumably would make the hall of fame, but it would definitely mar his career if (again, not likely, but IF) he has his best season at age 32 and then falls off a cliff while making more money than God.

I guess there is a chance that Dame just fell off but I think that's highly unlikely. I think what's far more likely is that he's going through a period of adjustment. I guess we'll all see but I think everyone on this board that's making a big deal of this and saying shit like "I hate to say it" don't actually hate to say it and are hoping that no one else can have the Dame we had. More petty stuff... possibly brought on by that petty Miami or bust bullshit but still petty all the same.

Damn, throughout this forum whether it's about Dame or Scoot or whatever, people need to give new situations some time to settle in. I'm not surprised by all of the knee jerk reactions but it does further hurt the credibility of those who have these takes.

Dame's best seasons were ones we were winning and therefore he didn't get shut down.

Statistically he had one of his best with Billups.

Since that fact is out there, we may move on to other topics that possibly you'll be right on. Just not this one. :)

Many times it’s been said by many people who are supposed to know that he had his best statistical season last year for the short time he was playing.
It is debatable what his best season was? He did make the WCF at one point.

People will definitely think about it if he does not recover his form. They will not think about it in regards to the HoF. 2 very different things.
