Not sure if that deal is there for Jrue. Not sure if we even want to mess around with Ujiri at this point.

Well if Ujiri calls I would pick up the phone. Let him make his offer. They at least have assets we could use.
I would still take Jovic and Jaime as well from Miami
Hopefully, a dark horse appears with an ending contract and 2-3 picks

Genuinely shocking to me that they didn't even give up OG. Really, Masai?

I sensed Masai was up to his usual and not making Barnes or OG available when nothing happened after all the Toronto rumors late last week. It seems was a true case of if we hear about the deal before its done, it's already dead. I did sense that Phoenix was committed to moving Ayton for Nurkic regardless of the Dame deal going down. There was just too much local talk here for that to be dead.

Ujiri really is that guy in your fantasy league who drafts his players and then is so frightened of ever making a legit offer and seeing one of the guys he drafted and then traded do well that he spends the whole season offer crazy lopsided deals and refusing to actually negotiate.

Dame got TERRIBLE advice throughout this whole thing. He should fire Goodwin.

Unless... he wanted to go to Milwaukee all along. In which case they played it brilliantly.

That color isnt gonna look good on Dame… ugh…

I might still be in denial mode!
I'm trying to be excited that seemingly every playoff team in he league is in a bidding war for Holiday, we have an amazing young back court, we just got Ayton who is a Nurk level C who is 5 years younger and most think has been playing below his potential at that Nurk level, we have a ton of raw prospects on the roster, we have Jerami who could be our go to scorer and command a nice return at the deadline but it's hard to be excited about it today because Dame was and probably still is my favorite athlete of all time and I never wanted to see him suit up for anybody else and until a few months ago I thought that was realistic. So... FUCK!!! I'll get over it and soon I'll be fully excited about this team, maybe once the Holiday situation is resolved. Fingers crossed.

Im with ya. Dont get me wrong. Im excited about the new kids for sure.
Its just, not sure im ever gonna think Dame looks good in another jersey. Lol.
But you are correct. Im just waiting for Holiday to be moved and im pretty sire that will be the team for next year. Ill create an official prediction thread for the season once he is moved, so everyone can predict with an a curate viewpoint of the roster

In late August, Goodwin suggested to Cronin that he meet with Lillard to mend the relationship in case his client were to return to the team. Cronin agreed, and they met at Lillard's Portland-area mansion on Sept. 5. It was the first time the two had spoken in quite some time.

With a little less than a month away from training camp opening, the two sat in the entertainment center of Lillard's home and the meeting lasted about an hour.

Lillard expressed his disappointment with how his situation had been handled, citing his steadfast commitment to the organization over the years. He questioned why there was no dialogue with Miami and expressed how it would be disheartening to be sent somewhere against his wishes.

According to sources, Portland had asked Lillard to sit out the final 10 games of the 2022-23 regular season to help the franchise improve its lottery odds. He was told the higher the draft pick, the better chance they had at using the pick to facilitate a trade for a proven veteran player. He reluctantly acquiesced to being shut down, citing a "calf injury."

Portland went 1-9 to finish the season and would go on to win the No. 3 pick and select Scoot Henderson, a promising young point guard the team planned to keep.

In the Sept. 5 meeting, Cronin conveyed that if he was forced to do a deal with Miami, he had every intention of going after every attractable asset. Lillard knew then he was unlikely to end up in Miami.

Lillard then said if a deal couldn't be worked out with the Heat, he would prefer to rescind his trade request and return to the Trail Blazers.

Cronin's response to the seven-time All-Star was that there was no coming back.

Lillard was shocked, sources said. He said it was discouraging to hear he couldn't return, but added that he didn't want to be somewhere he wasn't wanted, and he ended the meeting.

So on Sept. 11, he started showing up at the Trail Blazers' practice facility to work out. He went in for eight days. He said Cronin did not address him once.

"I went into the facility because I was still on the roster and usually that time of the year is when team activities start to pick up as a group. I wasn't confident I would be moved so I showed up to be in the mix," Lillard told B/R.

"I didn't go there to cause any problems," Lillard continued. "That's not my character. If they felt that way, it wasn't my intent. I was just trying to get acclimated and everyone was happy to see me. Every single person except Joe. He never spoke to me. And when I noticed that, I made up in my mind that I'm not going out my way to speak to him."

On Sept. 23, a Zoom meeting was organized by the NBA featuring league officials, Cronin, a team attorney, Lillard, Goodwin, and Ron Klempner, the general counsel for the National Basketball Players Association. The meeting was scheduled with the purpose of opening up the lines of communication between the Trail Blazers and Lillard's camp. The session got volatile at certain junctures, with both sides expressing their trust issues with the other.
I know Haynes is Dame's mouthpiece, but if there's any truth to this report there is definitely a part of me that is bitter. Cronin didn't have enough respect for Dame to even talk to him? Screw Goodwin, but Dame?

Oh god fuck off Haynes. Hit piece and he waited until after the trade happened? This couldn’t come out a week ago? Had to shit on Joe and the team on the way out?

If you don't think there's bad blood between Cronin and Dame what have you been watching? What incentive does Haynes have to lie about any of this?

Cronin/Blazers were mad about the single team request.
Dame mad they wouldn't accomodate.

The animosity is understandable on both sides but the disrespect to Dame is not.

I think it’s immensely bush league to toss this bomb on his way out of town as he heads to a team with Giannis.

Agreed. But why was Joe so pissed? We are getting one side of the story and I don't think it is in the Blazer's best interest to respond to anything Haynes says. or writes. His credibility is long gone. So we may not know for years.....the rest of the story.

He's pissed because he (or whoever is making decisions in the FO) thinks Dame and his agent tanked his value with the public one team trade demand.

Lillard's agent is the one who fucked him over, if anyone did.

Edit: "Don't worry Dame. They'll understand and take you back with open arms.
I'm sure you'll end up in Miami anyway. I'll get it done."
