With training, nutrition, and smarts, players can play into their 40's and be productive. 70's & 80's were the golden age of Sex, Drug's, and Rock & Roll in Pro Sports. Not saying there aren't athletes today that live that fast lifestyle, but there are way more players today, that watch how they do things, and center their lives around Family & Business. So they are able to extend their careers.
Chris Paul got real close for the first time at age 37 after multiple teams....Lamarcus chased two ring ..one with Duncan and Ginobli and another with KD and Harden.....both ended up not getting them a chip...ring chasers don't always win rings....Karl Malone didn't get one with the Lakers....Dame knows after team USA what it's like to be a second fiddle....I think he prefers the alpha seat at the table in Portland

Totally agree. He's an Alpha.

When do we start the Dame Appreciation Thread?

Spurs want Simmons, Sixers don't want what Spurs have to offer because they don't have a current all-star. This is a great start on a rebuild for Portland - we would be a defensive terror, and built like a young version of the Clippers.
(Yes, I know Dame almost certainly won't be traded this season, but this is what my brain does for a hobby.)

Why would we trade an all nba PG for young players who none of them have all star potential

Dames leaving… soon

Dame is staying if we get better. If we're the same team, I think he's gone at the deadline. I also think Olshey is well aware of that and if he was planning on losing Dame he would have already traded him because the more times Dame says that he might want to leave, the more incrementally his trade value suffers.
