Dame wants to play with Simmons

Roco and CJ really aren't great offers. Roco/CJ/Simons and Nas probably does get it done, though.

If we could swing that, I'd probably do it. It's giving up on a lot of upside for the future, but that's what you do when you have little talent and are trying to maximize a franchise player's window. We'd get the best player in the deal.

Assuming Nurk could be re-signed. Dame/Norm/Nance/Simmons/Nurk would be a pretty nice starting unit. Our bench would be terrible, but I guess we'd just have to fill it in with what we could find.

CJ + Roco + pick for Ben + Green. Call it in. I ain't giving up our two lone bright spots this season for Ben.
Zero chance they would do that.

If they didn't do CJ, pick and simons or Nas, no chance at this.

This is the fork in the road. Do we push for all in and trying to appease Dame with the chance of it blowing up in our face? Or do we blow up the team?

Pick one. Tired of this bullshit treadmill around the edges shit.

I kind of believe these reports within reason but maybe in a context of like --

Reporter -- Dame how would you feel about playing with Simmons ----- ( DAME ) -- I would not mind it he is an all star and a good defensive player ( or something thing like this )

Then this question gets spun into Dame wants Simmons over CJ or something like that or what's happening but only time will tell
if you break this article down, there really is nothing of substance here outside of two key things:

- the idea that dame would balk at playing with Simmons (as was said multiple times by people in the media and here) because he (dame) would play off ball is false.

- chauncey was a neil hire through and through (doesn't necessarily mean that dame isn't bought in to Billups).

wayyyy too much drama on social about this article that was actually not that revelatory.

That was in the summer. Now, we are nearly two months into the season where Ben is still holding out and Philly's record isn't that distant from ours.

I want to win with Dame. It would be a complete and utter disservice to the best player in franchise history if you don't even take a swing ONCE. The risk with a Ben trade is minimal as I have been saying ad nauseum. Are we really going to be worse than we are now? Once this iteration of the build is over, we will have to go into the tank for a few seasons as is-- why not give it a shot before you press reset now?

what if you have to give up 2 or 3 picks? is that worth the risk?

of course. i have been probably the biggest proponent of ben here if you haven't been following.

nance makes roco expendable. and nas and Ant have become reliable contributors. i did question the idea of ben as our "final" piece to justify emptying our chest, and still do to an extent, but the upside is much greater than status quo.

the teardown would inevitably bring back enough draft assets if we put dame on the market so hesitating about throwing in picks is futile in my mind.

A tear down "might" bring back some picks but Dame's age and HEALTH IMO HAS to be considered, just how bad/perhaps chronic is that injury and what needs to be done?

Is this too homer of a deal for Blazers? An extra benefit is that it drops Portland out of the tax this year.

Is this article just based on dame saying Simmons is a top defender? Where is dame quoted saying he wants Simmons to Portland? Can he say that?

you think you MIGHT get picks if dame is traded? might? you do realize dame dropped 55 in a playoff game 25 games ago.

KD got a supermax after tearing his achilles at the same age Dame is now. Kawhi got a supermax after an ACL injury at the same age. While dame is not at their level consistently, his peak absolutely is. And he's not that far removed from it to suddenly not even be able to bring back draft picks.

I'd rather give up picks, than simons and little. And i don't know if the 76ers are in a position to be holding out anymore than Portland is in a position to be refusing to trade picks.

Both teams are going no where right now, and both teams would improve with the trade. It wouldn't be ideal for the 76ers, but right now, they're getting nothing out of 30+ million and it doesn't appear it will change. And it wouldn't be ideal for Portland, because they'd be losing out on picks that potentially could help them in the future...but so far they're just mediocre (at best) so their pick this year would be late lotto or gone anyways.

can a mod please get rid of the apostrophe in the title of this thread? it's making my eye twitch

oh didn't you hear? Damian is done. KD, Kawhi and Klay (oh god, KKK) clearly are 1,000,000 x better than Damian is health wise and the blazers should abandon ship!

(please for the love of god, read this knowing I was being sarcastic)

people be wildin, man.

Yeah we badly need those two in case we go full rebuild. If we lose Ant and Nas and still go rebuild we would lose two years
If we have to rebuild, it sure as hell is gonna take more than 2 years, whether Ant & Nas are here or not. Insert OKC. It could take a decade to find the right talent to compete at a high level again. It's imperative the Blazers try to retool around Dame NOW. Cause rebuild only guarantees you suck for potential ion's.

Im sure Dame and CJ have had discussions about this. I would think CJ might be thinking that being the lead guard next to Embiid sounds pretty good about now.
Agree. The move along side Embiid could be epic for CJ. CJ is perfect for that situation. But CJ isn't Dame, not even close.

If we couldn't get Simmons workout without giving Nassir and Simons, I would just settle for Siakam. I'd give multiple picks instead of Ant and Nas.

Would he be, though? They're doing pretty well with Maxey and Curry. Maybe Rivers would finally be the coach that got CJ to play off the bench...

Given how surplus-to-requirements CJ looks for the Sixers right now, I shudder to think at what else would have to be bundled with him to pull off a Simmons trade. Would we be mortgaging any future we have to make Dame happy (again)?

Curry would be coming off the bench.

CJ a pick and Nas is honestly as good as Morey will get from anyone for Simmons. I know that because I’m not 100% sold on it. That means it’s a good compromise. I’m not really camp simmons and I love Nas, but this team is so stale and CJ needs to go. SOMETHING involving him has to happen. Otherwise it’s rearranging the chairs on the titanic. He has to go, it’s not a fit and it’s past its expiration date by a couple years. I’m at the point where I would even take a lesser player in return as long as it somewhat balanced out the rest of the team.

Agree! The situation is starting to fester. Time to make moves ASAP.

Btw one of my main reservations about trading McCollum had to do with Dame. Now that I’m confident he’s not gonna bail and there are reports of him wanting to play with Simmons, I’m much more open to the idea of that trade. He must know that trade would involve his buddy, so if he’s down, fuck it, let’s do it.

This is all Stephen A Smith bullshit.....the guy has been spouting this shit for years about Dame....Dame called him out on it already. CJ probably should get traded but Dame isn't going to cause anyone to lose a job. That'll be a suit from the front office that makes that call. Dame has always said he needs to play with another superstar and CJ isn't a superstar. Let it unfold. Give Chauncey some breathing room to get guys playing defense and win some games....no need to blow this team up....just build Dame a better roster and let Chauncey bruise a few egos from the starting unit and bring them off the bench

CJ/picks for Simmons, Nurk /pick for Christian Wood. Frontcourt rebuilt overnight.
I could see CJ Nurk and Roco traded for upgrades....Nurk and Roco are expiring and CJ needs to play in the east.....have his own team even if it's a lottery team
