Hey Dame, let me tell you how you got here.... you requested a trade.

I also thought that he sounded like someone who was traded out of nowhere, and I just don't get it. Dude asked for a trade. Why was he surprised when he was... you know.... traded? Talking about suddenly thinking about having to move and all that..... what did he think would happen?

Sure, I understand being surprised about WHERE he was being traded.... but the fact that he WAS traded should not have been a shock at all.

IMO, he wouldn't have requested out if he thought any place other than Miami was a real possibility.

I think you are overthinking it.
He expected, or thought a trade would happen shortly after him requesting the trade. Then almost two months and no trade yet. So he thought he might be here at training camp. Then He got the call he was traded and he had to shift thought processes once again. So that surprised him a bit.

Oh shit i actually have to pack. It (finally)happened…

Agreed. I think he's been in a difficult point in his personal life, and was probably less prepared to deal with this than at any other time in his career.

I'm not being an ass, but I am having a hard time romanticizing this. He was done with Portland probably for many reasons. I'm just thinking his heart was set on Miami and riding the banana boat with Jimmy and Bam. Now he has to learn about brats and curling. That's got to make a man say "da fuq."

Yes, it was your agent, who you pay to speak on your behalf, so yes, it was you in essence saying these things, sorry. And if it was just Riley leaking to his people, you didn't do anything to stop it nor did you deny any of it. Until you do, the world thinks that you in fact did say these things, through your people. Sorry again, it's just the facts. But yes Dame, you do have the ability to set the record straight if you would like. But you do not owe an explanation to anyone. But if you want to set the facts straight, take the floor and knock us out. I will listen.

Have you had a chance to take a deep breath and take a moment to reflect on the trade and all the changes yet?

I would say the day that I got here. I got in, they had the [welcome] rally and then there was a lot of introductions, meeting a lot of people. They did a video. We made a lot of stops. I had to do physical stuff. And then by the time I got back to the spot and I was sitting there by myself. I kind of just took it all in and just thought about all the different moving parts of it. And that was when I was just like, ‘man, this is where I’m supposed to be. This is what it’s supposed to be.’ And in that moment, I just settled in with it.

Oh, not at all. You hear this is the business. The business goes this way, the business goes that way sometimes, but I just never thought that I would have a negative experience with it. But even with that being said, I don’t have a personal issue with anybody in the organization.

Nobody. It is not personal at all for me. I got love for everybody in the organization and I mean that. I’m not just saying it, it’s just that I’ve always said what I want to accomplish. I wanted it to happen there. And when you see things start to get off track and that reality not to be possible anymore, people start to feel a way and things happen. But I don’t have no personal issues with anybody. I’m excited to be here now and we just move forward.

Ah the "price" of signing a huge extension and getting paid 215 mil over the next 4 years, we should all have such problems...lol

The only thing I feel bad about was that he wanted to bring a title to Portland. And this franchise couldn't get its shit together in time to help him deliver that for the fans.

Just looking back on it, I don’t think it’s anything that I would’ve done differently. I wish during that time the communication was just better so there would’ve been less misunderstandings. I felt really misunderstood in the process. I don’t know if it was something that I could have done differently. I’m just happy that I ended up in a situation that fit me. We got a great opportunity to win. I’m playing with a great player on a deep roster in another small market where it’s family-oriented.

I’m just happy that it ended in a situation where I could walk into something that suits me. I’m going to have an opportunity to accomplish what I ultimately want to accomplish and it’s an environment that I feel comfortable in right away.

What was there to misunderstand? He said he would ask out if we used the pick. We drafted Scoot and he asked out. He gave a list with one team on it. Supposedly the comment about rescinding the trade request wasn't really rescinding it, just wanting to give Cronin more time to work out a deal to Miami. If you don't want to be misunderstood, don't let your agent do so much talking. Don't tweet out so many confusing and vague messages. Goodwin trashed Dame's reputation this summer. The guy should not have any clients after this debacle.
