Damian Lillard meets with owner Paul Allen over team direction

If I could reverse time and know what I know now, you take Mitchell and Kuzma for sure, and Jordan Bell. There is your 3 picks. Trade CJ, Mitchell is your new SG.

I don't even know if they invited Brooks in for a workout. He said he'd never even watched a Blazer game in Eugene. Bell I believe they did work out. And Mitchell.... I know some people on here wanted us to draft him.

Nobody saw Kuzma coming. If they did, they are lying.

My stance has been that Olshey plays it relatively safe.

We could have had DeMarcus Cousins almost for free.

I bet Plumlee would still be here if his contract situation was different.

Olshey trades only when forced by economics...i.e. his prior overpayments. The contract that squeezes everything now is McCollum, at least as much as Turner or Leonard.

Nobody wanted to see it, either.

I still remember last years deadline when everyone (including all the big media types) assumed Portland would be the most active team. Then Olshey gets on a phone interview after the deadline passed with no movement (except swapping one center for another) and he smugly starts joking about how quiet the phones were. Just infuriated me for some reason.

Lol ya that pissed me off too but mostly because I thought it was bullshit and just his way of making look like that’s all that could have been down. He seems like the thin skinned type for sure.

I swear if we wake up February 8th to "Portland Trail Blazer star Damian Lillard traded to New York Knicks for Frank Ntilikina, Tim Hardaway Jr, Doug McDermott, and an undisclosed future first round pick" I will cry
Great deal for the Knicks. And Dame would be instant superstar. And I get free tickets here in NYC. hmmm

I would call Milwaukee and offer CJ, 1st rd pick and Collins for Middleton and Parker then see if we can get Hood for a package including Napier. But I wouldn’t make the Milwaukee trade until I knew I had Hood.

I don’t want to trade Collins either but those are the type of players you have to be willing to move to make any real splash.

Add our 1st to Milwaukee and Milwaukee and Portland’s 2nds to Utah. Or some type of conditional 1st.

Hood is mediocre in Utah's system (that's why he's available) and would fail in Stotts' system.

I'm not completely opposed to this trade for us but Milwaukee is the overwhelming winner in this deal.

Lol I think just the opposite, he’s bad in Snyder’s system because it sucks and if he was getting the shots Aminu gets in Stotts system he would flourish.

I love this for us but I don't see the appeal for Utah

This is Lillard's worst shooting year. But it has forced our frontline to show their stuff, and they're better than advertised. Good thing Ed Davis made a comeback this season.

Lillard isn't making his demands from the position of strength he had last year. He's a peg lower on the totem pole. McCollum is about 10 feet lower, and is the most overpaid player in the NBA. Stotts' pigheadedness caused him to ignore Napier all this time, and Stotts still claims that Napier is merely a sometime-shotmaker, ignoring his playmaking.
Uhhh what? Lillard is having his 2nd best season in terms of TS%

I don't think it's realistic to expect this team to win championship within the next 3 years, which is probably the time window Lillard has on his mind. We might have a reasonable chance to get to a conference final but beating Warriors would be a massive task.

On the other hand I cannot see Lillard getting a trade to a team that is likely to win championship, except maybe Spurs but I doubt he'd fancy playing with Lillard again. Warriors won't take him, Rockets won't take him, Boston won't take him, Cavs won't have the assets to take him and nobody else is likely to win championship anytime soon.

Would Cleveland give us Love, Shumpert and that sweet Brooklyn pick for CJ and Vonleh?

Then we could move Aminu to SF and plug planet Pat into the starting 2 guard spot.

It wouldn't be for this year, but that pick could either, A, net us a potential stud in the draft, or B, enable us to land a special wing via trade....

Meh, I'm not sure I like it, but it's a thought

I would do that in an instant. And try to swing that pick to OKC for PG. A dame/Pat/PG/love/Nurk lineup is better than what we have now

My only question is if Dame metwith Neil before going to Paul

If in fact Milwaukee is getting the most value and Utah the least, would it be more balanced if Collins'/Swanigan's destinations were swapped?

Paul Allen had to be very disappointed with that loss.

  • No Millsap
  • No Farid
  • Nokic shot 5-17
  • Nuggz shot 31% outside of Murray
  • 7 point lead with 5 minutes to go
  • Nuggs with 4 more TOs

That practically screams 'win' and yet somehow the Blazers lost that and are now 1.5 games out of the #9 spot. He did not look like a happy owner leaving the court. The fact that he came after not having been at so many Blazer home games tells me he was supporting Dame after the meeting and wanting to see for himself up close and in person the issues with this team.

Dude, stop bringing up Faried. He is getting DNPcd's all season.

The team did manage to unload Allen Crabbe's four-year, $75 million contract after trading him to the Brooklyn Nets last summer, the very team that extended the guard the offer sheet before Portland matched. With that move, the Trail Blazers are now around $3 million under the luxury tax threshold, according to Bobby Marks

$3M under the LT? I thought we're about that OVER the LT.
