Zombie Damian Lillard to request trade in coming days (nope, he's not.) (2 Viewers)

Olshey needs to fucking turn one of CJ/Norm into a wing/PF, simple as that.

Dame isn’t stupid btw, he and his agent know he has no leverage. His Supermax hasn’t even kicked in yet and he has no options until 2024. The blazers wouldn’t be obligated to trade him just because he asked for a trade. Players that have asked for trades in the past usually do it at or near the end of their contracts, not before it even begins lol. What’s he gonna do if they don’t trade him, sit out? Please, that’s not like him at all. I’ll stand by what I’ve been saying until I have real reason to believe otherwise; he’s putting pressure on Olshey to build a better roster because he wants to win, and he wants to win in Portland. I see nothing wrong with that. He probably should’ve done it sooner tbh.
You da Man .

This is likely bullshit. Henry Abbott wouldn't be breaking the story. Dame just stated publically he is not demanding a trade.

Okay the one major rabbit hole piece that really bugs me, and let me know if you feel the same, is how disconnected he is with CJ this particular off-season (on social/everything). He's always been the closest to CJ. What if he's already told CJ that doesn't want to be here? We know how close they are. Even CJ's happy birthday message to Dame had them both at the draft lottery, not in uniform.

how about an alternative explanation:

Dame knows that trading CJ is about Portland's only path to contention

Not disagreeing, BUT, with the way that the Billups thing continues to play out by the moment, things said previously shouldn't necessarily stand as current truths...

Exactly my thought. Dame has definitely changed his mind on Blazer for life

nate jones is dame's business manager with his agency (Aaron Goodwin) has generally parroted Dame's mindset among all things bball.

Wells P was commenting on Abbott's article this morning citing "a source close to" Dame.

Haynes also reported the initial possible trade demand. This time he quoted Dame directly. Hopefully this is how Dame gets his point across through Haynes in the future

Maybe Dame just says sit tight at the presser. Maybe Olshey trades CJ and a bunch of future picks for Simmons on draft night. Maybe he then trades Nurk for a sixth man. Maybe we sign Bobby Portis with the taxpayer MLE. We would at that point definitely re-sign Norm

Dame, Norm, Simmons, RoCo, Portis, what we get for Nurk, DJJ, Ant, Nas and a vet min big.

Okay well if what a lot of us are speculating is true, that Dame is just posturing for the FO to make some moves, it does him no good to publicly come out and deny the rumors. He’s better off skating the line.

It’s Fentress, but still…

fentress is an idiot but he has called some things in the past so I have to believe he has some sources, more than that Abbott fella at least.

honestly though, it’s just common sense.

As much as I would like to trade CJ for Simmons, I doubt Dame would view that as a needle mover. We have to think Kawhi Leonard, Bradley Beal, Jimmy Butler, KAT types. Not a guy with super low value. Even if Simmons is decent. His reputation took a hit. I'd assume he would want us to do a trade like the clips did for PG.

I think Dame will at least see what olshey does this off season. Then if not to what he expected then maybe he will want out. Right now all we can do is speculate what's going in Dame mind.

well he flat out told Haynes his rationale here.

im working my ass off, ive earned the right to voice my concern and displeasure when others aren't

It sucks that there’s a new report every fucking week. There’s still over 14 weeks till the season starts. Fuck.

Minor thought on Kobe

who is our pau gasol?
siakam. even their stats are like identical. now if we can only get him without trading CJ or Nurk, we would have recreated the Kwame + Marc for Pau deal.

I give Dame more credit then that

I'd think he'd wait to see what roster changes and new coaching would generate. And the test of that isn't initial expectations, it's what happens in next season's playoffs

Why trade Nurk if Coach can get the best out of him. And for a lousy 6th man. That's not good Bro.

Norm is gone then, I’m assuming

It feels like Dame is asking the team to trade CJ, hence the noncloseness.

I'm not sold on Simmons. Melted when the pressure was highest. Attitude is smug. Not sure he's made of the right stuff.
