Dan Sheldon is a real ...

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

At least Dusty and Cam consistently talk about sports, and not catfish or what have you. I know its the offseason but every time I tune in to RCR now they are talking about something entirely unrelated.

I dont think that's a bad thing. Sometimes I find the most entertaining/funny part of Primetime on 1080 is when Isaac and Suke talk about life, not sports.

To each there own. Sheldon is neither funny nor entertaining from that perspective.
Shel-bot is a good punching bag though. The shows when Nigel Burton (my hope for permanent co-host) was on and learning about Sheldon's gated-community upbringing--classic! He himself doesn't necessarily have to be entertaining for the show to be. He really is your classic "straight man". The show improves as he continues to accept that role.

I think it's obvious PtldPlatypus works for Rose City Radio or Comcast Sports Net. Or he's got a crazy man crush on Sheldon.

Why are people still listening to him? Stop.

I haven't listened since Danforth left. Fuck that show. Fuck Sheldon. They took a great show about the Blazers and made it a joke.
Jay Allen has co-hosted probably a third of the shows since Danforth's departure. Brian Wheeler has done several as well. A few of the other guest hosts have been interesting (Nigel Burton, Craig Birnbach, even listener/tweeter/chef Jake the Hater). Kirk the producer often says to Sheldon many of the things that we're all thinking. And even with Sheldon's general twitter disdain, it's still the most interactive show in the market.

Nah--I've just got a lot of equity in with that show, having been one of the most prolific tweeters since day 1. Even when the host sucks, the other listeners have formed an online community that I'm not ready to simply abandon just because of talent turnover. You know, kind of like how I didn't just quit the forum when @SlyPokerDog became a mod. Sometimes, you just have to stick it through...

It's nice to have a broadcast platform on which my opinions can actually occasionally be heard, discussed, and responded to (in those situations when I have them). Can't really get that with Patrick, Eisen, Rome, Cowherd, or Mohr.

I agree with your sentiments obviously and I haven't listened much recently as I have been on vacation. I tuned in and found out that Danforth was gone and thus the carryover from the show with Bunker was dead. Having dreaded listening to Sheldon before my vacation it is dissapointing. I have a 45 minute commute between 6 and 7. It was great to listening to those guys after Blazer games the night before. Now... obviously the content should be Blazers so I will still give it a try, hope this guy gets better and hope a strong and entertaining personality joins him so that at least Blazer talk during the season will be enjoyable.

I was hoping that the new guy might be Allen, but he took himself out of the running today. Nothing against Nigel Burton but it seems as if since it is Rip City Radio you might get more of a basketball guy. Michael Holton and Orlando Williams are a couple guys that come to mind, but I haven't heard a single mention of their names.

I'll give the show credit for one thing while he was on it....they came up with our team name.....Flock of Zeros! (I added the Flock part)

Nah--that was long before Sheldon's entrance. That was Danforth back in September (I think) of last year.

you missed the, "when he was on it" part.......I was at the meet and greet last year right after we were dubbed, "the Zeros"....the photo of us by the fountain I called the Flock of Zeros.

If the "he" in "when he was on it" was referring to Danforth, then I didn't miss it, I just misinterpreted.

It IS the most entertaining. Sports talk gets old real fast.

But..... it's a sports TALK station...... :dunno:

Right? For those that cant stop hearing about sports and what not. For those that will tune into the little league world series or college AA womens softball because there isnt any other sports on, it sucks to find a sports station and listen to them talking about Slurpies or something....

I mean I get it and we all need a bit of levity and a break from the analytical stats, etc, but if you find sports stations to be the most entertaining when NOT talking about sports, why tune in? Why not listen to NPR, or something?

For me, I don't care if I hear the same topic talked about every day, as long as the topic has something to do with the Blazers... ;)

RedHead must've walked in on Dan giving it to Dan's wife or something... Goddamn.

And it's still boring. The only time I listen to sports talk radio is when its Issac and Suke... they don't bore me, because they talk about life. Other than that, I don't listen to sports talk radio.

So, yes, you're right. And I said why I don't listen to it. :)

I guess it went over peoples' heads that I don't listen to sports radio....

And I guess it's not going to be a popular opinion, but yes.. even Blazers talk can get boring if it's rehashed with no new viewpoints.

I still don't rightly understand why RipCity radio exists. For games there's the FM feed over .. whatever that modern alt/rock station is. Any national show worth its salt has a streaming/podcast option, and two other stations field (better) local talent. There might be times that there are enough national and local games that you could fill 4 stations with broadcasts ... but one of those local games will probably be the Pickles or Hops.

So to recap, you just wanted to check in to a thread about sports radio and let us know that you don't listen to sports radio. :twothumbs:

To be fair, I came to the thread thinking "Why is talking Ball Relevant? Please tell me he isn't the new color commentator." and I wouldn't be shocked if others made a similar mistake.

I watch a ton of internet podcasts or recapped interviews about the Blazers but I never really was a fan of talkin ball, mainly because of the guy who looks like a Bond villain

Tsk tsk.

Football clearly does NOT suck. I mean..... Ducks football? Completely awesome!
I have a go to response about that game....but enjoy the season! I have to watch it at work so I can talk about it with my client.
