The upside to this is if this story is true, then CJ is available. Can’t see how else that sign and trade would’ve been constructed (that also made sense for the pelicans)

If the agent gets cousins here, and nurk gets renounced, there aren't good options for his other client to sign somewhere. It makes perfect sense

It might've been a pseudo long game tank actually. We would've lost CJ and other key players and Cousins would've been in rehab. We could've missed playoffs, gotten a pick, and then added a hopefully healthy Cousins. Not a horrible idea. Yes, Cousins could never be the same but in Portland, you have to take those risks to get talent.

We can still do it if we traded CJ for Kawhi. If Kawhi walks it’d clear up space to go after Cousins. We’d also have a couple expirings we could attach to a pick to open up more space.

The stockpiling of guards is starting to make more sense. CJ could be on the move.

Yep. Just for excitement level, I want Kawhi, Griffin, Love, or Melo in that order. I'd like Beasley too.
 
Teams playing against them should just not even come out of the locker room in protest. Thatll put a stop to these overinflated super teams.

If you think about it CJ has more value than Oladipo did back when Indiana traded George. A Kawhi/CJ trade could happen.

Definitely. This is why Neil has maintained that he doesn't want to trade CJ. Keeps his value high.

CJ and our pick next year for Kawhi and we take Green off their hands with the TPE.

CJ is better than Covington and Saric. Those guys are good but they’re role players. Now if LA offers up Ingram it’s another story, but I don’t think that’s on the table yet.

To add to that, I'm sure pop isn't interested in tanking next year,so a guy like CJ is a good get
 
I don’t think cj would of been part of that deal. From what I have been reading, teams weren’t offering very much for boogie most likely because of his injury. I’m thinking it was more so a player like aminu with a pick or something. I think boogie would of been cheap. He won’t be ready to play tlll February anyway.

Without CJ or Kawhi (if he's not healthy yet), we could potentially be tanking for a high pick too.

The money would have to match if we were signing him to a long term deal as part of the sign and trade. Why else would he want to come to Portland?

If it was a sign and trade it probably would’ve been a max offer. Otherwise we could’ve just given Cousins the MLE ourselves, just like golden state did. And since it was probably the max, or close to it, we would’ve had to match salaries..hence CJ. A CJ/Holiday backcourt is yummy if you’re the pelicans.

I'm for that. 2016-17 Kawhi was arguably the best player in the NBA, one of the best 2 way players of all time. He's incredible and the city of Portland would love him.

Yep. We'd be making Pelicans better than us, but long term if Cousins got healthy, it would make us a better team.

Turning RHJ, Steve Blake, and a pick into Nurkic and Collins

It's not like he hasn't accomplished anything in this league. He drafted CJ too.

Yeah I saw this just now too. Seems as teams passed on him or didn’t offer a lot. Then the warriors came in clutch and closed the deal

I love Aminu but I would do a dance if that happened. If we can keep Kawhi AND Aminu, that makes our defense really really awesome. We could guard Golden State.

Man then I don’t know if that’s worth it. That’s a huge risk. A boogie that wouldn’t of been ready till February and could never be the same but if he’s healthy then yeah that would of been a good decision. I forgot about salary and cap there for a bit lol.
