I can almost guarantee what’s going to happen. The Blazers are going to trade for a couple of vets who are just good enough to get the fans excited and convince Lillard to stay, but then they’ll fail to win a title, we’ll be stuck with an aging team, and the #3 pick will go on to become a star for somebody else.

I’m hoping that the Blazers intend to keep the 3rd pick. I think they can use Ant and picks to get OG, the TPMLE and maybe the TPE to beef up the bench with vets, and possibly find a deal to move Nurk for a more mobile center.

It’s remotely possible that I won’t be entirely happy with what actually happens.

Dame will be good with keeping the #3 if they are not able to get the blockbuster trade.
For me I'll be good with whatever happens as long as Dame is wanting to stay here.

Dame has proven he like's to work with talented youngsters, he even had a camp for top level prospects.

I learned long ago not to expect results...it's why I never gamble. I'll say this....I trust our staff to know more about free agency and the draft than anyone on a msg board. Schmidt is worlds beyond the evaluation level of S2 armchair GMs. I prefer to be surprised with the offseason moves, not disappointed. The only disappointment I feel is from 2 years of tanking and the injury bug. Clean slate going into next season. Here's hoping for the best results!

Why is it so hard for people to understand that this is a prediction thread, not a reaction thread?

This is the thread for the 2026 draft, right?

I’m highly satisfied with the 2846 draft. I think that Blorg from planet Blaaargoo will really stretch the floor with his stretch Armstrong like arms.

Are these things mutually exclusive?
You can't predict things that have already happened.
You can't react to things that have not yet happened.
So yes, those things are, in fact, mutually exclusive.

A thread topic is something that's happened...we disagree. I agree with you about part one although I think predicting is also a reaction to circumstances even if those are self inspired. but it's all good.

The thread topic is specifically about the draft and about free agency. Neither have happened. Thus, one cannot react to those specific things.

It's really not that hard.

As a sports fan who has accrued more posts than I care to admit since the late 90's, been a moderator on several sites, and watched boards come and go.....

....I have never been a member of a site where so many people answer or respond to a question without quoting. By the time they post, others have posted before them and we have no fucking idea who or what they have responded to. Seriously, it's like 10x more than I have ever seen. Oh well.......

It's about satisfaction and disappointment from what I'm reading. And I can and did react to the thread title without speculating on how I'll feel after the fact...it's simple really. I'll leave you to your interpretation of the rest of it. It's all good as I said before.

Since the change in management, I have been satisfied with the decisions made. Therefore, I assume that line of thought will continue...

an interesting puzzle of multiple expectations

1) We can tow the company line:
Blockbuster trades to renew playoff spirit, with Lillard doing max damage in a winning program.

2) minor improvements, make the playoffs, probably get crushed, with fans cannibilizing each other over the tank or not to tank strategy.

3) stealth tank, my preferred option. A team with awesome shooters that destroys the stinky teams, but isn't good enough to beat stronger competition. A .500 ballclub with a GM patiently waiting to pull the pin, make whacky trades, and create a tailspin towards another awesome rookie.

4) Full rebuild, Grant walks, Lillard gets traded, make it rain ping pong balls in Portland.
