Trade Dame because he doesn't fit with the new ChaunceyBall style?

Call me old fashioned - but I think that Dame having to carry less of the load and running hard for a shorter number of minutes per game because he does not need to carry the team is going to be fine.

Frankly, this year, if the Blazers make it to the playoffs - I would be very excited to see playoffs Dame that is not broken from carrying the team for 82 games during the regular season. 24 minutes of Dame running the point + 10 minutes of him playing off the ball while also having 24 minutes of Ant running the point + 10 minutes of him playing off the ball is just fine and dandy

I think the exciting part of the recent events are that Dame can play off ball a lot more.

Unfortunately nothing in there seemed to throw any light on this discussion. Interviewer never asks if he thinks he can change his style of play or even about his relationship with Billups.

They're going to try it. Just hope that if it doesn't work they will be quicker to pull the trigger than they did on Dame/CJ.

Offensively though, Dame/Ant is going to be an absolute nightmare. Two alpha creators that can play on/off ball. Who else in the league has that? Durant/Kyrie maybe?

I guess Rasta believes that the more Trade-Dame-Now threads he makes, the better the chances it will happen. The power of negative thinking

as to the 2nd option to the poll, if the Blazers do decide to trade Dame, I think just about everybody is going to be surprised at the level of return...it's not going to be as good as many are assuming imo

I'm not sure if I remember this good, but wasn't this the case on the begining of the season? Wasn't it something that forum pointed as possible reason of his struggle?

I like to watch this new team, but I don't believe (yet) they are that good. Let's see another ten games.
And it is not Ant's team. It was Dame's team and it finished badly. CJ and Stotts were here too long and maybe they wouldn't if it wasn't Lillard's team.
I would rather see it as a actual Team with a coach than someone's team.
Ergo: Forum overreacting.

Good point. Best to keep it Chauncey's team.

yeah but what was this board be without ridiculously dumb threads?
haha, too me it's more people get to high and too low around here quickly. Ant's is tearing things up right now, and we can all see the potential oozing out of him. But after 20 games, where his usages's are way up, is still only a small sample size. I love what I am seeing but I try not to get too high too quickly.

What happens when teams actually game plan for him, when he gets doubled and tripled teamed like teams do to Dame? How will he do under pressure and in big moment games? Will he hit a wall at some point since this is his most minutes played so far in any year.

Then people are so quick to say lets trade Dame now and etc. Dame can adjust man, I have no doubt. The Dame, Mattews, Batum, LA and Lopez teams tells me he def can. And Ant is completely different to CJ, both offensively and defensively so far. Billups also is already pushing him on the defensive end, sometimes Stotts didn't care about lol. When it was him and CJ as the main offense, they needed to score and put up tons of shots for us to even have a chance. We played too much iso ball under Stotts that he had no choice. Dame playing off the ball at times is a great thing too. Not to add other factors like Dame still wants to be here through all the shit the last couple years, lets see what him and Ant can do, with Hart backing up both and a full year under Billups.

Trade Dame like Clyde…. He deserves a ring. Make sure he gets traded to contenders.

This team is still rather small in comparison.
They don't need more guard play.
They need more bigs. Established bigs. Borderline all star level BIGS.
If only they had a quality asset to bring such a haul.
Is that Dame?
I hope not, but.......

im pretty sure chauncey wanted to play like this from the pre-season going forward

but with dame, cj mccollum & powell it was impossible
Getting your *entire* starting lineup to play differently is much different than getting one player to play differently.

And I pointed out this exact reason as part of why Stotts should’ve been canned earlier. He allowed so many bad habits to form without repercussion that it was inevitably going to be a rough season.

You don’t think it’s a perfectly reasonable topic? At least worth discussing?
it's not reasonable to think the best player in franchise history who:

1. has never been un-coachable,
2. repeatedly has pledged his desire to win HERE.
3. admitted LOVES the coach and wants to play for him

should be traded before he even gets a chance to play this new style of ball with new teammates.

No. this is not worth discussing.

Especially when the dude coming up with this topic has posted this bullshit ad nauseum for over a year.

Very. Good. Points.
I admit, I am straddling the fence on this one though. By the hour I change my mind.
In the end, "In Dame We Trust" takes on a whole new meaning, regardless of what happens.

I don't know how anyone can straddle the fence when Dame says this (timestamped):

Like how you gonna be disloyal to a guy who's loyal AF.

Reasonable to ponder if Lillard, a top 75 player of all time still in his prime, is no longer a fit for the team after 4 games? Do what you want but no, that's not reasonable.

"Everyone" wondered if this team would even win another game after the trade deadline, rooting to tank the rest of the season, and now it took only 4 games to ask this stupid question?

Ridiculous

Well, since I just used that term, I'm assuming you're addressing me, so I will respond.
Dame is all everyone says he is. A Legend. A Loyal Legend.
This franchise has had Bill Walton, Clyde Drexler, and BRoy, who I will always feel was on his way, but none of those guys come close to Damian.
I get it.
It's like the little angel on one shoulder saying "Just wait until Damian comes back and Anfernee and Nurk and the ball movement and fast pace and great defense will just get better and better and everything will be wonderful!!!!"
But, on the other shoulder, is this devilish little guy who in his raspy voice is saying "Trade him! Trade him now! You'll never have a better chance! Just look at those knockers1(animal house)..get some big men, you need big guys..Nurk can't do it all by himself....."
That's how.

Not sure it is 'worse'. It's more about the 'fit' where you have the established, all-star, older, lead guard, coming back from an injury to re-take the reins from the younger, now more explosive, slightly bigger lead guard who is showing signs. Since you can't have two lead guards, the observation is more how will they fit together and would what they would get back for the much more expensive one, but a big enough haul to set up the new lead guard with pieces to really compete?

That is what Blazer fans want....to be at least a contender. They have not been that in 20 years.

Yes. Dame is a leader, aside from being the greatest Portland Trailblazer of All Time in his prime.

Yes, he has a place here and fits in.

We owe it to him to give him a chance to fit prior to trading him.

It seems like such an obvious concern and yet so many people refuse to even acknowledge it.

Kinda like...... LMA leaving the team. There were people who refused to even consider that he would leave the team right up until the very last minute when he said "peace, I'm out."
