Well hopefully we will get a good player in the draft

My offer is still good (today) if someone wants to bet that Stotts will be fired before the end of the Blazers season.

Someone has to think it's a good deal

What's your offer?

He's a really good tank commander, so if the goal becomes to get as high a pick as possible, which it absolutely should at this point, he probably should.

Not sure how they fire a coach right now? Certainly not when the team is back healthy and playing well? I'm no expert on the issue by any stretch but it seems he will finish this season.
Wouldn't most people want to see how the team does this year then make that decision?

Would the offense change under Vanterpool? Does he know what he has to do against elite defensive teams when they blitz Lillard? Would we have more ball movement and less predictable offense? Can he change the defense? Can he teach more and different schemes than the one drop scheme we always use? Will he hold players accountable when they show zero effort on Defense (yes Dame this also means you)? So many questions. Actually i hope we hire Becky or someone new, because i dont want anything to do with a Stotts guy

We don't have answers for those questions. But it does not matter. Lillard, CJ and Nurk like him, that's what matters. What you don't understand?

What the hell are you talking bout? Those questions are crucial for the rest of Dame's Prime in Portland! I don’t give a damn if they like him or not, i want a coach who can fix our weaknesses like historical bad defense, double teams against Lillard, uncreative offense, accountability for lazy effort etc. If the players can’t handle that they should never talk about a Championship again

I posted this on another thread as well. IMO Stotts time here is pretty much over. He might pull off a great end of a season and get a chance for next year but that is highly unlikely. These are my personal feelings on the matter and i have nothing to go on other than experience from watching NBA basketball over the years.
I don't think there is any chance in any stretch of the imagination that he will be fired before the end of this season.

The time is probably near though and i highly doubt you will see another contract for Terry Stotts with the Blazers. 9 years is an eternity for an NBA coach in this league.

Saved me a bunch of typing.

Not looking like Stotts will make it through the season. I suspect he'll get fired before todays game.

Really, bro?

Doesnt he have a year left?
I see him quitting when season is over.
He will end up with Bullets as their coach is prob out.

Surprised I missed this one.

Dame says Steph gets easier looks than him cuz of the way their offense is built. Goes in line with what Pat Bev was referencing about Terry's offense last month when he said if Dame played in an offense that had him off ball more, he'd be even more unstoppable.

Also says the teams most likely to get 80 on their heads are those that play drop scheme. I'm sure the irony isn't lost on him that our bigs drop om P&R coverage more than any other team

That was good!

Yes, we get our pick but we might lose Powell because he wouldn't want to re-sign with a loser.....
I don't think how we end this season has anything to do with us keeping Powell. We keep CJ and Powell will walk because I doubt very much that he wants to play out of positions with two guys (one of which should be) who are ball hogs, in a three guard lineup. I also don't think we spend 90M per season on three guys under 6'5".

I think Powell will stay if CJ is traded for a starting forward to go with RoCo and if Olshey can sell him on the new coach being no nonsense because I think Powell sounds like he doesn't want to play on a soft team.

Will Stotts be getting fired before the Spurs game tomorrow?

Stotts will coach until this season ends and then mercifully (for us) he'll either step down or be fired. Unfortunately it's looking like Neil will keep his job and most likely his undying devotion to the Dame/CJ back court being the foundation of a champion.

Tend to agree with this. Just cannot see firing him at this point?
My hope is that the team plays well whatever happens and i also hope if he does retire that they find a good coach to take his place. Terry Stotts has been a very admirable man and a stable personality for a long time.

The team has won 6 of its last 7 games... Now doesn't seem to be the time to fire the coach.
But if they would have they could have won all 7 of the last 7 games! If they would have done it at the beginning of the season Nurk wouldn't have broke his wrist and CJ would never have broken his foot either! We all know Stotts took a club to Collin's foot.

aww.... Never mind.
