Very cheap. Like $10m or something.
Yeah… thought i had that right. I mean no disrespect to Dame, but max money should be much harder to get.

The Kings are an abomination of fucked up decisions and horrible leadership for decades. The Warriors do have excellent ownership and management. But they also happen to have Steph who they got with the 7th pick. And then Klay at 11. No owner or FO matters without that duo. To get those picks they had to be shitty. There are other ways to do it but with free agency essentially off the table, it’s draft and trade. Trades require assets which they don’t really have.
Hello,
Please correct me if I am wrong, but Dirk signed for a far less percent of the cap during their championship, enabling Dallas to put a bunch of all star/roll players around him, if I remember correctly.
Some Russian arms dealer, I think.Did we ever find out what Donavan Mithcell traded his watch for?
Dirk took his discount 3 years after his title.Yeah… thought i had that right. I mean no disrespect to Dame, but max money should be much harder to get.
Timeline on Dirk's salary is off. Dirk was a free agent the season before they won their NBA title(2010-11). He was 32 years old. He was coming off of a season that saw Dallas lose in the first round of the playoffs. At 32 years old Dirk signed a 4 year, 80 million dollar deal, which was a max or near max deal at the time. He was 36 and 3 years removed from their title when he started giving them discounts. When Dame's deal is up, he'll be roughly as old as Dirk was at that same time. So then we can start asking Dame to give discounts to be comparable to Dirk.
There were no free agent signing that happened that pushed them over the top. They traded Erick Dampier in the offseason for Tyson Chandler, which helped to anchor their defense. Otherwise, they brought back roughly the same team.
Thank You. I stand corrected. But i still maintain the max is too much.Dirk took his discount 3 years after his title.

Lillards max.What do you mean?
I wanted him to say it, ha ha, but you laid out exactly whaty point was going to be.Lillards max.
If only the Lakers could've drafted a player like Julius Randel.
He’s a French superstar.Who is that?
Is this an April Fool’s joke? The Kings are the worst organization in all of sports. 16 straight years with no playoffs and that likely won’t change. Blazers were in WCF 3 years ago.I agree. Both are on the extreme scales. But lets be real and ask yourself what franchise we're closer to right now between Golden St and Sacramento in the follow areas:
1) Ownership - Kings
2) Market Desirability - Kings
3) Front Office Experience - Kings
4) Coaching Experience - Kings
5) Talent - Kings

Why, in hell, would the Knicks do that? Lakers can have hope. They are at the front of dream for scenarios. I dream for a lottery win. About the same odds for getting that done.

that's mostly false
Dallas won the championship in 2010-11. Here are Dirk's salaries:
View attachment 48989
his salary that season was 30% of the cap. That's not "far less" of a percent. In the final season of that contract his salary was 38% of the cap. IIRC, Dirk exceeding the 35% max was allowed because the cap was essentially frozen after the new CBA was implemented.
in fact, under that contract Dirk made:
1st year - 30% of the cap
2nd year - 33% of the cap
3rd year - 36% of the cap
4th year - 38% of the cap
essentially, his contract gave him 35% of the cap (same as Dame)...so no, he didn't take a significant financial hit for the team. His 30% meant about 2.9 extra million. And the reality is that Dallas did not use that 'savings' to sign anybody. The only new faces of any consequence on that team were Tyson Chandler (acquired in a trade) and Peja Stojakovic who was claimed off of waivers and signed to a minimum deal
this isn't the first time I've seen somebody say Dirk took less so the Mavs could build a contender. But it's simply not factual
Lillards max.

Mariners 20 plus years without playoffs. Is this an April Fool’s joke? The Kings are the worst organization in all of sports. 16 straight years with no playoffs and that likely won’t change. Blazers were in WCF 3 years ago.
