I believe you're wrong about that

if anything, I think Dame was putting pressure on the Blazers to fire Olshey, which is why Olshey tried to torpedo Dame on his way out of town

Very likely the case as well. We won't really know till the tell all book is written about this era haha.

OT: I think one thing we might see on draft night is Ivey getting drafted at 2 (I was about to type, "going number 2" but then realized what that might imply). I think the Thunder have shown time and time again that they are willing to take future draft capital and talent they see as a hidden gem further back. So I could see Detroit giving up future firsts to move up to 2 and make sure they could take Ivey instead of taking the chance that he will be gone at 5.

I maintain that this team will not begin to heal and take a first step until they sell. We will never truly get back on the right track until Jody and the Vulcans are gone.

yeah, I agree, been saying that for 3 years. PA could put a curb on Vulcan thinking; JA can't....she may even be 100% Vulcan

Can we bump this or sticky it or something? I feel like I'm seeing Daniels more than Mathurin today, with Griffin dropping past 10 more and more (Thank God!).

More and more, I think it comes down to Mathurin/Daniels/Sharp for picks 6/7/8 in some order.

Here's an update, now sampling 20 mock drafts:

I agree. I think it's coming down to Mathurin, Daniels, and Sharp for the #7 pick. I'm good with any of those 3. I'd love to see Murray fall, or us trade up for him, but that's unlikely.

My picks of underrated:
- Tari Eason
- Jeremy Sochan
- Walker Kessler

In the second round, I'd love for the Blazer select:
- Kendall Brown
- Jake LaRavia
- JD Davison

I love draft time. Second only to Dame time.

i really like this exercise in compiling mocks earlier on in the process rather than a week before the draft. i feel like the extent of groupthink is very high right now where no one really wants to deviate too far from others in their valuations. Your variance/deviation stat is reflective of this. like nbadraft.net putting Chet at 6 this week was ridiculed -- you don't see stuff like that at all.

Or......

They think Cronin/ownership are fucking morons.

I tend to lean towards the latter.

haha true.

It’s common knowledge now that you can fleece Portland. You gotta earn respect in the league. Cronin’s wet behind ears moves have put a target on his forehead.

How’s this lineup: Dame, Hart, OG, Grant and Nurk? Yes or No?

That's pretty solid. Did we give up Ant for OG in that? If so, who did we take at #7....because I'm not giving up Ant AND #7 for Anunoby.

1. Dort + 12 + future pick + 34 = 7 (discussed elsewhere) is in the ballpark and builds assets for other trades. Dort + 12 does not equal 7. The New York chatter (Burks, Noel) is … crap.

Hypothetical TPs as a reflection upon Cronin and all such what-ifs … good luck with that. 5 days and counting until we get reality.

insulting trade offer

Burks is a middle-class man's Tony Snell; and Noel is good for maybe 30 games a year. Meanwhile, the Blazers not only drop down 4 slots in the lottery for a couple of scrubs, they get to spend their big TPE

this leak, obviously out of NY, is probably a public fuck-you to Portland for privately discussing #7 for Randle and #11.

This 'rumor' is taking a beating from all but the most delusional Knicks fan on Twitter.

I'm wondering if we are hearing some of the same things. Based on what you have hinted at around the edges, it seems to be along the same vein. I would say, in almost all of those discussions, the Blazers are not in the position of having leverage. It is either about even, or they seem in a position of weakness. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.
Cronin was the one selling assets other teams were chasing and he had no leverage.

Now things are flipped and... he still has no leverage?

Yay, our GM sucks!

NBADraft.net always sucks until the night before the draft.

Well it is Joe “Get Fleeced” Cronin.
Joe didn't get fleeced.
The team after the trade deadline with Hart and Winslow was better than the one with McCollum, Roco and Powell.
Hart and Winslow don't fuck around on defense, and Winslow had a huge impact on the ball movement in general and getting Nurkic high-percentage scoring opportunities specifically.

It’s almost like real life isn’t like 2K and fit is more important. On paper CJ, Powell and RoCo might be better than Winslow and Hart but they weren’t better fits on an actual court.
