You know how we basically sit around and talk basketball? You know how you do it with your friends, co-workers etc?

I don't think there's one GM on the planet that doesn't do that with most of his players. Also, I don't think there's one GM that doesn't have have an intimate relationship with a player he drafts that becomes the best on the team. And, I'd wager to say most GMs at least make a good attempt at having a good relationship with the team's best player if they draft them our not.

MFs in here that act like that same GM shouldn't consult said player about adding players to the roster. Players the best player may have to coexist with for years.

You'd consult your best player EVERY time and you'd be smart to do that. Or you'd be STUPID and add Detlef Schrempf to an already loaded roster.
You consult, but you don't refuse to make good moves because you're afraid of your star being a little upset. If that was the case, we would be paying Plumlee $13M a year and wouldn't have Nurkic or Collins.

Or think of this from the other perspective. What top 10 player in the NBA would actively watch draft workouts when his team has a pick in the mid 20s? I know some people feel otherwise, but I love that Dame is so engaged in the team building process. I'd rather have it this way than him aloof and distant. You can manage his bias for certain players later.

Nice false equivalence.

Don't compare CJ to Plums... Really??

Also, he drafted CJ. It's not just because of Dame. It's because he has a vested interest in the combo working out.

Simply saying he doesn't want to make Dame angry like it's the only reason is disingenuous.

He should have a vested interest in the TEAM working out, NOT a player combo because he drafted CJ... he is an egomaniac trying to prove he is right instead of doing what’s best for the franchise

He put the WHOLE team together didn't he? You're not making sense. And your amazing fixation on this is tiring. You keep making things up to prove a point that you have yet to prove.

You're posts are pretty annoying.

You think just because YOU say so trading CJ is best for the franchise?

There are plenty of people in here who disagree with that. You sound foolish.

Where am I doing that? It's an example of a move that players didn't like at the time but ended up appreciating in the long run because it was the right move.

You're making up stuff based on other stuff you made up.. nice.

Did he work out last night or will that be today?

The Blazers 5th and final predraft workout includes: IMG Academy G Anfernee Simons; F Dzanan Musa of Bosnia and Herzegovina; UCLA C Thomas Welsh; Arkansas G Jaylen Barford; UNLV C Brandon McCoy; and Louisiana Tech G Jacobi Boykins.

He characterized his last workout as "his best yet."

Maybe they want to confirm that it wasn't a flash in the pan. On a similar note, the history behind Mitchell last year was that he blew everyone away when he worked out in Utah (when they didn't even have a pick), and management made sure that info was kept under wraps while they worked to move into the draft for a pick.

Mentioned this before but Simons seems like another Collins from a physical standpoint. Seemingly not ready but his skills may get him on the court anyway. But I’m not gonna pretend like I have some extensive knowledge about his game, this is just based off a couple clips and things I’ve read.

Still don’t see us keeping the pick though.

I don't like Simons as our Pick. We need help now and not in 3-4 years. I can't Imagine Dame is Happy about that.

Conspiracy theory: Blazers putting the spotlight on Simons to take the attention off their real target, maybe Musa.
Thats a guy we could need, but not another 18 year old skinny kid who needs years to develop like Simons

Somons = second round pick.

Exactly. Would love to develop him but no way he goes at 24 from what I have seen.

Unless he is the start of the tankathon followed by trading Dame and CJ. He won’t hurt the tank for several years and then could be good.

Really?? Musa is skinny and needs to develop too..

He's 6'9" , 195.

Same weight as Dame.

Despite the age difference and height difference, when I watch Musa I can't help but think about Petro.
Musa just turned 19, I would totally roll the dice on him. I just don't think he will still be on the board.

Yeah but he played against pros and plays a Position we have need. I take musa over Simons in our win now situation
