Him describing his expectations as consistently unrealistic means constant changes and a shit show coming
Seems like a guy who wants what he wants and he wants it now. If not, out the door and under the bus for you. Sounds familiar.

I like the intensity, and I'm not particularly wedded to status quo in the Blazers org per se, even though I'm sure the folks who work in the organization are good, nice people.

He seems like a total asshole, and he doesn't seem to care what Portlanders think of him.

I'm not sure he understands the degree to which public perception matters in a place like Portland. We'll see if he ever increases the amount of energy he spends on that piece of his ownership. I doubt it.

"Dundon says the Blazers will get better with him as owner. "It's going to happen. It always happens when I show up."

...

Meanwhile, Tyle was impressed with Dundon and how direct and egoless he was."

Obviously, the Blazers will be better next season, health permitting. Look at the roster of players who've been out this year. We've got Damian Fucking Lillard coming in next season. Shae is out. Grant is out. The players will be more used to playing together and more cohesive.

And guess who will take credit for results that were driven by the actions of the previous administration. Err, I mean management.

I feel like Gordon Gecko just bought the team. "I don't like the airline, it's a dog, it's a dog with fleas!"

I dont know what the result is going to be in regards to new ownership. I know what I hope it will be. Do I like what I have seen so far? Yes, and no. Time will tell me the right or wrong of my current feelings.

As far as the arrogance piece...is he more arrogant than Larry Bird or Michael Jordan? Where does being overconfident change from impressive, to irritating? Why does smug confidence seem impressive in some, and irritating as hell in others? All I know is, I like the vibe in this team. I hope that remains....win or lose.

Paul wanted to accomplish much the same and I believe Toms efforts and results impressed Jody and Bert/Burt?

Tom Dundon is transforming the 80-acre Lenovo Center (formerly PNC Arena) area into a $1B+ year-round mixed-use district, featuring entertainment, dining, residential, and hotel components. The project includes a $300M+ arena renovation, a new 4,300-seat Live Nation venue, and phase-one developments slated for completion by 2030, enhancing walkability and creating a 365-day hub. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key aspects of the development include:
  • Mixed-Use District: The first phase (approx. 20 acres) features over 200,000 sq ft of retail/entertainment, 150,000 sq ft of office space, 500+ apartments (10% affordable), and a 150-room hotel.
  • Lenovo Center Renovations: Upgrades include an ice-level club, premium food service, better seating, improved concourses, and new bunker suites.
  • Entertainment Focus: A $40M, 4,300-seat, indoor-outdoor music venue operated by Live Nation.
  • Parking & Tailgating: Surface parking will be replaced with decks, but at least 50% of original parking capacity is expected to remain, with new "cool concepts" for tailgaters.
  • Timeline: Phase one is expected to be completed by 2030, with further development expanding over 20 years. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
The project aims to make the venue a premier destination, bridging the area between the Arena and Carter-Finley Stadium. [1, 2]
the privately funded arena district was supposed to break ground in december. looks like it might be delayed for some reason, there's been no news on it.

oddly enough the hurricanes released a bunch of arena reno update info 'today'--but that was a publicly-funded thing.

I am very curious to know what deal was turned down by Cronin that might have been pretty big. We might never know but gets my mind racing wanting to know -- LOL

I actually liked Dundon's media Q and A. He seems like a "no bullshit" guy. I also got the sense that Dwayne and Joe are here to stay. Tiago has to keep winning to get another shot.

I love Tom just to watch the people who get offended by the his lack of kissing anyones behind.

It’s called confidence and 90% of yall will never sniff it

He definitely came across good.

All of our concern about how he'll be as an NBA owner, and trying to draw inferences from what he's done with hockey and, I dunno, listening to that presser briefly, he sounds like someone that just learned about the NBA as an entity a year ago when someone offered to sell the Blazers to him.

Not going to put too much effort in to analyzing everything said, but feels a lot more like a money backer who is looking at taking what could be looked at as a distressed product(old arena, shit area around it, mediocre team) and improving that product for a good financial return. And, I dunno, that's fine. We didn't land a Paul Allen early days crazy crazy rich billionaire. That was always unlikely. Hopefully it works out.

The cost of doing business as a % of gross revenue in Portland as compared to Carolina or Houston will be much higher in most regards. Cost control and a new winning culture, will/should help increase the value of their investments. Seems his hobbies are built around that.

Why’d you come out swingin’ son? Who are you aiming this at?

Same here. Something to think about is that Joe likes to double back at potential trades and get them done in the summer.

For the first time in 6 years I have hope.

The team has been awful. Love his no bullshit way of doing things. He knows the team fucking sucks and I hope he can change it.
