Dwight Jaynes says two groups are interested in buying the team from PA

The new CBA makes it much more difficult to buy a winner, unless that team is in a large market where high revenue can off-set the huge luxury tax penalties that are set to take effect ... and Paul has been much tighter with his wallet since the heady days of Bob Whitsitt (rightfully so). In short, Allen's riches are just not as available to the team as they once were, and his ability to spend is curtailed.

So? Better to have a owner with resources than to not. We've seen examples of tight wad owners hurting teams sucess. And who knows what future CBA agreements will bring?

I for one love that PA owns the Blazers. I wish however he would clean the entire house, starting with Miller.

The local media and their doughnut fetcher PapaG can huff and puff all they want. The most altruistic billionaire in the world isn't leaving.

I laugh when I read Allen criticized for not having basketball expertise. He knows the CBA better than anyone on this board, including Storyteller. The 2 owners who played the game, Jordan and the Russian, are the 2 worst player evaluators in the league.

Love the avatar. But I think that's sorta how the franchise is viewing the tank. It's a tank, but not a real one like it should be

Take that back!

At least my tank avatar isn't fictional character. Oooh burn!

btw what other tank avatars did you consider before Hank the Tank?

I was thinking of using the BattleZone cross hairs when I came across the LARPtastic avatar you feast your eyes upon now. A picture of a septic tank would have been good too. This topic should be its own thread.

Nice. It was the first thing I thought of, and went with it.

While it may be true that the current CBA reduces the ability to overspend as Paul Allen's great equalizer, I have no doubt he is still willing to take a loss on a winner. How many owners (or "ownership groups") are willing to do that? I wish with all my soul that the Blazers had better management, from the top down, but I'm not optimistic the next owner, whenever the time comes, will be better for the fans than Paul Allen.
