It appears from early returns that we here are, on average, relatively insulated from the economic effects - which is in the direction of what I expected, but I didn't expect as strong a signal. For my part, I'm in the no-change group.

When a pirate starts taking note of who's getting paid and who isn't....it might give one pause...just sayin'....pirates have a different meaning for booty call than regular folks

From what I can tell, the extremely rich seem to be the ones who most want things opened back up, because they can afford to insulate themselves, but a functioning economy drives their investment portfolio. Those who are going paycheck-to-paycheck are split--many are worried about their finances, but also worried about contracting an illness and spreading it to their families.

So far, polls of the overall populous are in favor of continuing stay-at-home measures: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/me...-home-restrictions-fight-coronavirus-n1187011
Depends are where you live a how the poll was taken.

April 13th 900 voters polled. Im sure not many from Oregon were polled and if so, from where. Its just depends on location and 10 days ago was a bit different than now, in many area's too.

That's interesting, that was more of a break down of party demographics (from what I could tell just looking at the graphs because I gotta hop back into work in a minute). Definitely the ultra-wealthy want people to work, but you can be financially secure and not extremely rich too.
I wonder if there will be a tipping point too where people's finances start to become more important, maybe if socialism (haha I used that word simply because of your signature) takes over and the government takes some of that burden, maybe it won't matter. I know a few people who are definitely really hurting financially right now. I should probably gauge what their thoughts are about some of this.

In Oregon to date there have been 4 deaths under 60 since Jan from covid-19.
26 counties have 0 deaths and 10 counties 1 or more.
Over half of the deaths in a few harder hit counties were from nursing/assisted living centers.

A bit under 5% positive rate against 42K test. As we test more that rate will increase but so0 will the death rate most likely.

There are hot spots for sure and we've learned social distancing works but a large percentage of the Oregon demographics are not as effected, so, with certain precautions couldn't some areas open sooner than others? I kind of think so.

Check out the demographics under this link:

I first read that as put 20% into beer market, and thought hey, me too!

there are actually EFT's with Beer market exposure

https://www.etf.com/stock/BREW

"To get a better idea of just how much beer the world consumes, investors need to understand the bare facts. The United States consumes 81.6 liters per capita on an annual basis, making the country the 13th largest consumer globally. In first place sits the Czech Republic (156.9 liters), followed by Ireland (131.1 liters), and Germany (115.8 liters). That means that on average, each person in the U.S. drinks roughly 21.5 gallons of beer per year. Multiply that out by our current population of 300 million (a conservative figure), and that totals to approximately 6.5 billion gallons of beer consumed every year by the U.S. alone"

my wife doesn't drink beer. Neither does her sister or her husband. Neither does her nephew, or his wife or their two boys. That means, that of the 8 of us, I must drink about 160 gallons a year. No wonder I have to get up at night to piss so often.

Sitting in a strip mall lot waiting for wife in pharmacy.
We just dropped off our two hounds for grooming curb side no mask. They said they’d cut my hair for $20.
Starbucks, cleaners, subway, liquor store, computer repair store, baskin Robbins all open.

Lyrics are good, especially the opening line, now we need the melody.

Sittin' in a strip mall lit
Waiting for my wife her pills to get.
Just dropped off our two hounds
Curbside grooming, no mask around.
I'm sittin', another covid day,
Watchin' my life, roll away.
I'm sittin', another covid day,
Wastin' time
I can hear the whistling!
