Giannis’ numbers are better than LeBron’s and his team has won more games than LeBron’s. It’s Giannis. Should be unanimous but it won’t. The other awards will go to Morant, Nurse, Siakam, and AD (but should be Gobert).
 
Dame’s PER is better than LeBron’s. Giannis’ PER (7th best all time) is a full 3 points ahead of 2nd in the NBA, Harden (who I would also vote for over LeBron).
 
Sorry FAMS.....LeBron is 35 and is leading the league in assists. Putting up fantastic numbers. He gets it. Give it to Giannis for the next 10 seasons.

So you are one of those PER is the absolute when it comes to judging a player. Isn't there some holes in the PER system though?

Being 35 doesn’t make you more qualified. LeBron couldn’t get Lakers to playoffs til he had AD (3rd in PER this season) who deserves MVP over LeBron too. Stockton led league in assists a bunch of times too. Never won MVP. Same with Mark Jackson.

PER plus Team wins. The only hole in PER is defense and Giannis is a better defender than LeBron too. LeBron had one of the best seasons ever in 2008-09 and won MVP because he deserved it. This year, Giannis deserves it.

You honestly think I want him to win the MVP ONLY BECAUSE HE LEADS THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS? Of course not!

It's the complete body of work. LeBron is 35 and has had an amazing season is all I'm saying. Can you imagine his numbers if he played in the east this season. Of course Giannis is right up there, but he's about to get at least 5 more of em! There were a couple seasons LeBron DIDN'T win when he deserved to.
 
AD is third all time in career PER by the way. LeBron is 2nd (GOAT is 1st). Shouldn’t Lakers have one of the best records of all time? (They don’t.)

His complete body of work will be honored when he is inducted in HOF. No one is saying LeBron isn’t having a top 5 MVP- caliber season but Giannis is #1 and it’s not close. Giannis is not guaranteed to win the next 5. Doncic is going to win a bunch of MVPs soon.

Lakers are only 16-7 vs Eastern Conference. East has more legit contenders. Raptors/Sixers/Celtics/Heat/Pacers is a tougher field to deal with than pretenders like OKC, Utah, and Houston.

At the top of the conferences, yes. I’ll take top 6 East teams over top 6 West teams all day. Who wouldn’t?
 
Btw, I looked it up. John Stockton averaged 10.5 apg at 35 and made it to the NBA Finals. Made it to Finals again at age 36. No MVP for him.
 
I think Giannis is the odds-on favorite to win. In fact, I was mildly surprised that a lot of analysts consider it a fait accompli. I thought sentiment would have LeBron in a closer race. My expectation is that the voting won't be all that close. Giannis by a pretty large margin, LeBron the clear #2 and then some group of players fairly close to one another.

I'd also pick Giannis. LeBron's had a remarkable season, especially considering his age, but Giannis is pretty clearly the best player in basketball now, especially when you factor in defense. If you swapped Middleton (Milwaukee's second best player) with Anthony Davis, the Bucks would be far and away better than the Lakers.
