I could definitely get behind RIP being the 6th man

If this trade happens, you can get behind RIP - if you become a Bulls fan; Rip is to Chitown, not PDX.
Gramps...
Will this trade happen before or after we trade for CP3 and is this something that we should have a rally about?
So confused...
Rip would be going to Chicago, not Portland.
I duno if I commented in the other thread, but I'd do it. Of course, I'd like to know what else is going on, if Deng is staying here, and Batum going out, or Deng just providing depth, and being an expensive backup.
Oops
but I want Rip though

Actually, this is part of the preparation leading up to the acquisition of CP3. NO is wanting at least one "name" player back and so we are trading Pryz/Bayless for Deng (thus giving us a 'disposable' name player) so we can then package him with other assorted warm bodies in exchange for CP3. In the end, we have Oden, LMA, Batum, Roy & CP3 as our starting five.
You heard it here first.

Acquiring Deng would be part of another deal, IMO.

You give the current management too much credit.
I think they should hake a hard run for Tony Parker using Andre, Batum, Rudy & parts if they aquire Deng.

I'm not sure what's not to like about this deal.
Luol Deng is a better SF than anyone we have. Yes, Batum is getting better - but Deng averaged 18 points and 7 boards last year, and is a career 47% shooter (Batum averaged less than half those numbers, 8 points and 3 boards, though his percentage is as good as Deng's).
And the Blazers would give up who? Jerryd Bayless - whom I like, but he is yet to really solidify a role on the Blazers, and Joel Przybilla - whose primary value is as an expiring contract, considering the uncertainty of his injury and the Blazers' depth in the frontcourt.
I'd say if this is part of a bigger deal to significantly upgrade the PG spot, then fine (but I'm one of the biggest skeptics of the likelihood of a CP3 trade). If it's just to acquire a better veteran at SF, then I say do it. The only way I don't do it is if the Blazers seriously think there's a better deal out there to be had. I doubt there is.
