Merged: Hinrich to PDX Discussed?

PG-Derrick Rose/Steve Blake
SG-Ben Gordon/John Salmons
SF-Luol Deng/John Salmons
PF-Carlos Boozer/James Johnson/Taj Gibson
C- Joakim Noah/Brad Miller

That team would have an outside chance of competing for the champioinship, and would definitely be at least the 4th seed in the East, and a 50+ win team.

But that jerk Reinsdorf had to let Gordon walk. Now, Bulls still have to make the trade, Bulls probably still could capture the 4th seed (Bulls vs. Pistons would seem like a possible 4 vs. 5 matchup out East now), but I can't see this team contending after making this trade, or having any real path towards contending after this trade, unless one of their draft picks like James Johnson pans out into a star, which isn't all that likely when you're picking at 16.

If Tyrus would be OK being a backup and not cause any problems, this move would be great.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

Tyrus = Birdman + rebounding - 8 years in age.

Maybe Tyrus would be a distraction. However, there's a good chance that the chemistry built up in our locker room could have a positive influence on him, or at least negate it to the point where he may do and say dumb stuff, but it doesn't harm the team.

Fan Blazers Insider Jason Quick reported yesterday that the Blazers were going to offer Jazz Forward Paul Millsap a contract sometime in the next 24 hours. Millsap is a restricted free agent, and the Jazz would have 7 days to match what is expected to be between 8-9 million dollars for the first year of the deal.

The Salt Lake Tribune this morning reported that Utah would match the offer no matter what, regardless of how much into the luxury tax they would be.

John Lund of 1280 The Zone in Salt Lake City is reporting this morning that there is a three team deal in the works that would send Carlos Boozer to Chicago, John Salmons to Utah, and Kirk Hinrich here to Portland.

It makes sense that this is what Utah is thinking. Either way, Millsap is going to get paid. 9 mil is too much for the Blazers to pay a backup power forward, when they can get Brandon Bass, who I think might be better, for less. Utah doesn’t want to pay that much, so trading Boozer makes sense. Then the Blazers get their point guard… who I think isn’t worth the money. I’ll get more into this later.

I remember John Lund from his Portland days. I hated him on the radio.

I don't like sending Salmons to Utah. I think he helps out there starting lineup a lot. Would much prefer to see Tyrus Thomas moving there.

On top of that, Chicago gives up Salmons AND Hinrich in that deal, which leaves them with what, Rose and Pargo as their only two players in the backcourt?

That would leave the Bulls with practically nothing in the backcourt to help Rose.

The Bulls inept front office probably haven't realized that Gordon signed with the Pistons yet.

No Tyrus?

Weak sauce! I really would have liked to have his shotblocking off the bench.

With Chicago losing Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich (in this proposal) their backcourt is extremely thin. I don't think they'll move Salmons if they trade Kirk.

Mayber they get Webster and or Blake?

I want Deng back. Throw in Blake/Outlaw to Utah, and send Webs to CHI.

Kirk/Roy/Deng/LMA/Oden is a dynasty caliber lineup if healthy. That team would be built to contend for years to come.

Please get off the Deng kool-aid.

We're having a tough enough time signing our franchise guy to a long term deal while Deng is about 10-13/per over the next five seasons. Factor in his nagging injuries, why even take that chance?

I meant they'd have three point guards, and no shooting guards.

I don't like this. We can get more for Boozer and Utah still ends up going broke. Doesn't make sense.

Sounds like Portland is giving up a lot in this deal. I wouldn't give up all our cap space for Hinrich alone. I hope there is more somewhere.

It seems like Utah needs to give something back to Portland. How about we throw in Joel and they throw in Deron? ;-)

Portland would be giving up capspace + Blake or Outlaw.

That's not a lot at all.

If this is all we get, fucking have Penn write up the "toxic" offer and let's get it on!

Are you kidding me?

That cap space, in my eyes, is equal to an above average starter! You're talking Boozer and Blake for Kirk Hinrich.

And, we're allowing Utah off easy, by getting them out of their mess AND allowing them to receive Ty Thomas.

Utah essentially gets Milsap and Tyrus for Boozer.

Portland essentially signs Hinrich for three years at $9M/year with their cap space.

I don't know if Hinrich is worth that much. Although Bargnani is out there now.

If you do this:

Portland gets: Hinrich, Thomas (and loses cap space)
Utah gets: Blake, Oulaw, $7M savings
Chicago gets: Boozer

It works, but interestingly, Holinger's analysis says we get two less wins

Re: Report Blazers going after Steve Blake Jr

LOL. Sooooo uninformed.

Hinrich is as good as Blake on offense, and 3 times as good as Blake on defense.

He would be a huge upgrade for out team.

Re: Report Blazers going after Steve Blake Jr

I want them to get a god dam point guard who can penetrate the lane and break down a defense not a guy who stands out there launching 3's. Oden s going to go to waste with these slow bums

If the deal leaves Blake here, then I would bet Bayless would be frustrated. That would definately put him back to third string no matter what he does in the summer league. I like the Deng/Hinrich deal better where we send Outlaw and Blake out. I like Blake, but I love the Deng/Batum option at SF better.

Steve must have become sexually active at a very young age.

This should make the uninformed people happy

YahooSportsNBABulls haven’t had a “single conversation” about a 3-way deal Blazers and “have nothing going” with Utah about Boozer, Bulls source tells Y!.
