Anyone care to try and justify Howard being ranked above LA?

Howard is one of the most over rated players.

Where was Howard rated? If it was 12th, that might be about right. Anything higher, and LA looks more underrated.

Quick stat: LA averaged 29.9 PPG in the Houston series, and scored 30 in Game 6 (nobody remembers that). Howard Averaged 26, but we were letting him get his to keep Harden from shooting.

He hasn't been ranked yet so he is top 10. My guess is that he will land right at 10.

LMA ranks as barely above average 1st man.

Lillard ranks as the average best player on a team, but on the Blazers he's the 2nd best by rank.

If Aldridge were injured and replaced with an average 5th man, we'd still have average starters.

These rankings are a cumulative of what a couple of hundred of sports reporters think will happen this coming season. So while it's not necessarily a good gauge of the players actual value, it is a good representation of public perception.

The public has really spoken and what they're saying is:
Our starters are awesome (top 4th man in the league or better)
Our bench still sucks (all are average 8th man or worse)
1 Aldridge 13 (0.4 +1=1.4 vs 1.5): average 1st man, and he is our 1st man
2 Lillard 16 (0.5 + 1=1.5 vs. 2.5): average 1st man, but he's our 2nd man
3 Batum 52 (1.7+1=2.7 vs. 3.5): average 2nd man, but he's our 3rd man
4 Wes 83 (2.8+1=3.8 vs. 4.5): slight below average 3rd man, but he's our 4th man
5 Lopez 92 (3.1+1=4.1 vs. 5.5): top 4th man, but he's our 5th man

6 Blake 221 (7.4+1=8.4 vs. 6.5)
7 CJ 222 (7.4+1=8.4 vs. 7.5)
8 Kaman 237 (7.9+1=8.9 vs. 8.5)
9 Robinson 241 (8.0+1 = 9.0 vs. 9.5)
===============
10 Wright 269 (9.0+1=10.0 vs. 10.5)
11 Barton 329 (11.0+1=12.0 vs. 11.5)
12 Leonard 356 (11.9+1=12.9 vs. 12.5)

I wonder in a vacuum, what team would actually take Noah over Aldridge. smh

Durant at 8? His injury maybe?

Did I miss Derrick Rose? If DRose is in the top 7 after all his injury, wtf?

Love (and Westbrook?) better than Durant? Also- if Rockets have 2 top 10 players, why did they get bounced in the first round?

Because ESPN doesn't give a shit about defense either.

It wasn't "ESPN" that made the rankings. i believe it was a large group of analysts from around the country who ranked each player 1-10. Then they were ranked by average score.

I would imagine a lot of them. Aldridge better scorer Noah better basketball player.

The day Noah or Howard get 46 and 18 in a playoff game and 43 and double digit boards the next night both on the road...get back to me..Howard and Noah are 5's ..LA is a 4

Funny. When we had the #1 pick, Noah was considered a joke.

Its weird cause he is the exact same kind of player he was in Florida. The hyper active effort player with excellent defense. His offensive game has gotten a lot more refined but it just shows that hard work and effort can make you a star.

Most analysts don't really give a shit about defense either.

Did you see what he wore on draft night?

In fantasy value sure, as an actual player not yet. He is going to put up stats but how much is he going to actually impact the game, he can't really create for himself and while showing flashes of being an ungodly beast on D he is still learning how to play D in the NBA. I'd put him #3 if were talking about player value, since that will factor in his age, because he is going to terrorize the league for the next 10-15 years.
