Ray Allen coming in at 95 would be a 3.167. Which would be a good 4th man.

I love his game. I used to be a bulldog like him on the court back in the day. Not only that, but when he first was in Utah he lived in the same hotel we stayed at when we came to town to play the Jazz. He sat down next to me in the lobby one night and we chatted for about 10 minutes. Great down to earth guy.

We haven't had a new blazer in the countdown for a bit, so he're a comparison of this year's team vs. last year's team (countdown currently at #93):

2013:
x LaMarcus Aldridge
x Damian Lillard
57 Nicolas Batum
128 Robin Lopez
130 Wesley Matthews
169 Mo Williams
185 C. J. McCollum
200 Dorrell Wright
204 Thomas Robinson
255 Meyers Leonard

2012:
20 LaMarcus Aldridge
63 Nicolas Batum
109 Wesley Matthews
202 J.J. Hickson
211 Damian Lillard
268 Jared Jeffries
330 Meyers Leonard

As pointed out even including the rise of Damian Lillard last year's team was just bad according to ESPN.

2012 Blazers, 6 players in the top 300
2013 Blazers, 10 players in the top 300.

2012 Blazers, 3.5 players in the top 200
2013 Blazers, 8.5 players in the top 200

2012 Blazers, 3 players in the top 150
2013 Blazers, 5 players in the top 150

2012 Blazers, 2 players in the top 100
2013 Blazers, 3 players in the top 100

2012 Blazers, 1.5 players in the top 60
2013 Blazers, 3 players in the top 60

Another way to compare is to look at the 8th best player, i.e. your starters and your bench:
2013 Blazers, 8th best player: 200 (Dorrell Wright) (approx average 7th man)
2012 Blazers, 8th best player: 338 (Nolan Smith) (approx average 12th man)

Analysis:
We are a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better team than last year. I think the numbers say it all, but I've bolded the parts I think most telling. Let me say this: Last year our 8th best player according to ESPN prognosticators was Nolan (F'ing) Smith, yes out-of-the-league Nolan (F'ing) Smith.

(quick #correction: Nolan is 2012, Dorrell is 2013).

Fantastic work!

WHAT THE FUCK! JJ Reddick #92? What am I missing?

I'm guessing Lillard ends up with the biggest jump this year.

I'd agree with you, but I have no idea who either of those players are.

Sent from HCPs Baller-Ass iPhone 5...FAMS!

That's good to hear, I have no idea either.

Wow! The fact that Nolan Smith was considered our 8th best player really emphasizes how truly horrid our bench was last season.

BNM

To #81 without more blazers added, so our top 3 guys are top 80. #75 would be average 3rd best player. Hopefully we'll go some more spots before Batum goes.

All 5 Bulls starters in the top 77 :)

I can dream of a championship!

Reasonable.

It's just weird they'd give Butler such a high rating given he had a 15.2 PER last season. He was pretty good all around, but Jeff Teague was lower with his 16.8 PER (15/7 at PG).

I think it has to do with his reputation on the defensive end. PER doesn't really take defense into account.

Agreed, but he was a 26 MPG player. I mean, wouldn't Jamal Crawford for his offense and Butler for his defense be pretty much equal?

Butler was awesome in the playoffs and this isn't about last year's PER. It's about where he is now. Jimmy is a helluva player.

Crawford is a career 15.4 PER who plays terrible defense. Butler has upside while Crawford should decline.

Weren't you the guy saying Butler should be one of the centerpieces of a deal for LaMarcus? Now you've gone all Mediocre Man on him.

I think Butler has a lot of potential, but I've seen guys have success in the playoffs but fail to live up to expectations going forward. I don't want to jinx him.

Crawford had a 16.8 PER last season, and has been in the 6th man of the year discussion for the past several seasons.

Though the rankings are generous to my team, I am interested in them being realistic.

70 starts today, so the Blazers top three seem to still be on good pace. 70/30 = 2.33 which is greater than an average at 2.5

Holy shit.....I like Favors, but they have him at #68!!!

#67 Tony Allen
#66 Jimmy Butler

What am I missing guys? Isn't this too high for the last 3?

Not too high for Tony Allen. He is a stud. He does a lot and even more that doesn't show up in the box score directly.
