Trade ET Traded

Really bro? Can't wait for GTJ to serve you some crow!
I addressed that already too.
Has Trent ever even been asked to facilitate? In college his role was minimized, had the lowest usage among dukes starters. He was relegated to spot up duty. Probably why he didn’t get drafted higher to begin with. In the NBA he’s only been in glorified pickup environments (summer league, g league, mop up duty.)

It’s funny how there’s a microanalysis of a teenagers passing game, but not someone like Rodney Hoods, who has averaged less than 2 assists a game in his career, yet most would love to give him the full MLE (including me.) We need bucket getters on the second unit. Hood is a bucket getter. So is Trent. Time will tell how good, but I wouldn’t dismiss an entire part of his game just because we haven’t seen it yet.
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you of the posters who was really down on CJ being selfish? He's a better passer than both Hood or Trent if you want to play that game.

I've said multiple times that Trent can get his shot off at a very high level and that is an important skill in the NBA. It's a fact that he looks to score and rarely passes. That doesn't make him a terrible player/prospect or mean that he can't develop into something more than a scorer but at no point have I ever seen him play and thought anything other than that he really, really likes to shoot the ball. I said the same thing about Curry last year.

I'm fine with Trent being on the team even though I wouldn't have made that trade last year. I even said I was very happily surprised we didn't have to attach him to Turner to get rid of him. In fairness to Trent, he literally got no chance in his rookie year to play with the starters or the 2nd unit except for in blowouts. Simons got that opportunity in maybe like 3-4 games so he didn't really get much of a shot either. I hope both develop into useful players.

And my reply was, maybe suggest players you’d actually want before throwing your hands up in the air bitching about acquisition cost.

What does cost of acquisition matter if there aren’t players you want? Lol

If we had the #40 we could've drafted Bol Bol. I would have LOVED that. Would you not have?

Here's a thought. I voted Seated claps and cheers. I'll sit and clap.:

Agreed. For certain he does not deserved to be booed. His old teammates don't appreciate it and it only fires up his new teammates.
Unless he ends up bad mouthing the organization, then fans should show some class and applaud. (Although a standing O would be a bit much)

.

I would love CJ if he was A) coming off the bench and B) making $1.4M. So yeah, you’re wrong.

Where would he play?

While Nurk is out, use Collins at center instead of Leonard and have Noah start at PF. When Nurk is back to 100%, he plays center, Noah plays PF, and Collins splits his minutes between. Mix and match based on the situation and flow of the game. Since we no longer need Leonard, his contract becomes trade bait.

I can see why you'd say this, but one thing no one has really touched on, and that I think is huge in this trade, is an upgrade in energy and effort. ET sitting nearly out of shape (by NBA standards) already got his and he reminded us of it a lot. He mentioned it a dozen times during his tenure here; he mentioned it in his farewell IG post. He never seemed to be capable of more than 75% effort, except for in bursts. Like physically incapable.

Bazemore, meanwhile, is all effort and hustle and will doubtfully remind us of how overpaid he is every chance he gets.
I agree. Turner didn't seem to work to improve his body or his game; not sure what people mean when they say he contributed to the culture here; or what intangibles he brought besides giving the guys a chuckle now and then.

Only the players and coaches know, and they all say the same thing about his influence in the locker room. So in this specific instance, we should believe them.

I won't believe them unless they say what specifically he did to provide a positive influence on the performance of the team or individuals on the team.

What if we envision Bazemore as our starting SG and not as a SF? He can play the 2 position. I am sure that Neil is not done trading and making roster moves. But could this move means that CJ's spot is not 100% sure? Even more with all the praise for Anfernee from Neil lately.

I could live with a Dame - Bazemore - Harkless - ??? (Piece coming back from a CJ Trade) - Nurkic starting 5. With Bazermore instead of CJ our defensive ability is already instantly better. Or an other iteration could be Dame - Bazemore - ??? (piece coming back from CJ Trade) - Collins - Nurkic. If our 3 guard is a potent defensman, this lineup is pretty balanced in offense AND defense.
Now you're getting greedy! :) Got rid of Turner and you want CJ gone too?

sure, he "can" improve....every single player is capable of that, especially a young player

after their rookie seasons, you could have said:

Ha Seung Jin can improve
Sergei Monia can improve
Taurean Green can improve
Josh McRoberts can improve
Victor Claver can improve
Armon Johnson can improve
Elliot Williams can improve
Meyers Leonard can improve
Caleb Swanigan can improve

it's just a boiler plate statement that means next to nothing.

All we can go on right now is what we've seen so far and Hoopsjock is right, all Trent has shown is that he's a chucker. Per36 he only scored 13 points on 16.2 shots; that sucks. He had the 3rd highest FGA rate on the team behind Dame and CJ but was 17th on the team in TS%, just ahead of Swanigan. He was also 17th on the team is assists/36. There is nothing there that is encouraging

now, it's true: he's still very young and he shot extremely well from the FT line in college and hit 40% of his three's from the college 3 point line, so you'd expect he can show a little better as he matures. But he's going to have to improve a ton to really make a difference. Right now, his 'upside' might be if he can get on the Layman trajectory, but some player that might be a sometimes rotation player two years from now isn't somebody to worry about
I will not allow disparaging remarks about Sergei Monia

He has a great rep of mentoring rookies...helping them transition to the NBA...he took Simons and Trent out right after the draft and bought them tailored suits to wear on the road...ET gave a shit....he was vocal on the court. I personally have no reason to doubt ETs work ethic or character...his game was just not a good fit for a 3pt shooting offense..I respect him..I think he'll coach one day

ET shouldve had some class and not talked about finishing on a guys mother and grandmother than ditching them (IG).

I will not cheer or clap for that scrub.

Shooting and shot creation take too much of a hit in that starting lineup.

I'll stand and cheer ET if I'm there. He was never a good fit here, but that's not his fault. Everything points to him being a fantastic guy and teammate.

Same reason I would never boo Meyers Leonard. Not his fault he was picked in the lottery

In fact the only time I boo athletes on my favorite teams is if they aren't giving full effort

You should read some of the stuff hes said to people online then...

ET gave some good moments during the playoffs. Teammates seem to like him and no reason to believe he's anything but a good guy. I wish him well in Atlanta when not playing Portland.
He had one good quarter in the Playoffs, i mean credit where credit is due, he was great in game 7, but he scored 7 total points in the first 10(!) Playoff games, thats pathetic. Yes he's a good funny guy though

...anyone think it was a coincidence that ET was traded so quickly after this?! :dunno:

You should meet him then......
I dont want a member of the Blazers saying some of the shit Ive seen him say. Maybe you've never seen it. You can tell me 100 stories about how great he is. But it cant erase the vile things I've seen him say. I've literally aeen stuff along the lines if "Id F your mother than ditch her like your father did" and stuff hed do to a guys mother and grandmother. I know youre okay with this type of stuff, but I wont be a fan of a Blazer who says this type of crap.

I'd rather the players don't get into it on social media -- it usually just makes them look bad -- but that's classic trash talking right there!
