Evan Turner becomes a Blazer

Yeah, I agree. The price tag is a shock, but I like the player. I have to wonder whether this means Crabbe is gone? They seem like they'd demand the same backup minutes at SG and SF. He played some PG for the Celtics, but I don't think that's his best position.

No crabbe offers a different needed skill set. They keep him even more now.

honestly, the money is a little high, but i like his game as well. saw him play a bunch at sports bars out here

That's great and all, but we need someone who plays in actual NBA arenas, don't we?

barfo

If it is true Turner will start, Aminu likely is gone. He has an attractive set of skills and contract as far as trade value.

He'll be the Blazers' bastard version of Iguodala

He's tough and plays hard. That alone makes me like him.

Dame and CJ can both play off the ball with Turner on the floor

Parsons chose old ass Memphis over us?! First of all, hes injury prone so GOOD. But damn. We sent all the heavy hitters and he still chose them?!

Then we sign Evan freaking Turner?! omg why not just bring Hendo back? wtf is the difference

Wow NOW DO YOU SEE WHY I TELL YA TO TANK IT!

Let this be lesson for everybody

That second tweet has me thinking of a possible major downside: Aminu is going to feel seriously underpaid.

Again, please don't get me wrong. I like Turner, but that is too much money for him, even by today's standards. Fuck, I would have rather had Mozgov

Wow, Neil Olshey is a complete and utter failure! Such a sad day to be a Blazers fan...

I dont even blame Olshey. Its this market. What the hell you want him to do? He drafted us Lillard, Cj, Crabbe in the 2nd round, Barton in the 2nd round although hes gone.. Olshey is nice hes just working in a trash market according to these top FAs

Except for the fact that he can't defend a fucking paperclip

Meamwhile, now that Blazers have blown their wad, the nets are gonna max out crabbe

I agree we overpaid by probably 3-4 mil per but fukkin no to Mozgov

Remember when everyone freaked about missing on Monroe and were pissed at the Aminu consolation prize?

Just breathe peeps.
I'm still pissed about the Aminu consolation prize. Somehow I think I'll feel the same about Turner a year from now as I feel about him today. Hope I'm wrong!

This place is going up in flames today, such fun to read. Everyone take a breath, all of these midlevel guys are getting severely over paid, that's what the market is giving us this summer. It's a time where teams have way too much cash, and not enough top end players to fill it. Someone is going to get that money and it's the midtier guys.

Turner isn't a bad player at all. I'll love to read this thread come next year when half of you guys are praising him for his defense and playmaking skills. He's not the big name we hoped to land, but the sooner you all realize Portland will never sign that guy, the happier you will be in early July. For whatever reason, of which have been hashed over numerous times, guys aren't going to come here. Everyone that though Dame was a drawing force was wrong. I know a bunch of you say we should wait and make trades, what big names have been made available in these kinds of deals? Harden is the only one and that was an outlier of the old CBA. With shorter contracts, teams aren't having to deal away guys nearly as much because they aren't on the hook for years 5-6-7.

Again, take a breath, pour yourself whatever tasty adult beverage you like and have a little faith NO knows what he is doing.

You guys are bashing Neil.... he tried to get quality guys. They don't want to play here. That is pretty obvious. This is our reality. We apparently live in the NBA wasteland.

THANK YOU

If anything I feel bad for Olshey. He deserves to be in a different market.

omg Tunchi is right
what a sad day to be Blazers fan

He's our starting SF

...just like how Vonleh was the starting PF for most of the year, how many minutes did he average? That's all I am saying. Sure he can start, but I doubt he plays more than 25-29 mpg.

Except for the fact that he can't defend a fucking paperclip
the general consensus seems to be that he's actually a pretty good defensive player. Why do you think otherwise?

In case anyone's wondering, 4y, 70M means a starting salary of 16,393,443

Woj reports $70M, ESPN reports $75M. Woj's tweet is the most recent.

At $75M, his salary is $17.6M first year.

Every fucking liberal hipster wants to move here... but we can't pay a dude max money to come play on our young up-and-coming team....... :sigh:

I like him a lot, too. A good 2 way player that has size and can play SG/SF. His 3pt shooting isn't so great.
from another board; "I bet you Turner ends up playing mostly as the backup PG behind Lillard and with Lillard and McCollum. It will allow them to both work off the ball, which they both do well. A ton of money, but Turner is a terrific fit with the Blazers"
