Evan Turner becomes a Blazer (1 Viewer)

By the way--anyone notice that between Turner, Harkless, Aminu, Vonleh, and Davis, we're now pretty solid defensively from SG through PF. If we actually can get a decent defensive center (C'mon Aldrich!), I'll be pretty optimistic about our defensive potential this coming year.

This place is going up in flames today, such fun to read. Everyone take a breath, all of these midlevel guys are getting severely over paid, that's what the market is giving us this summer. It's a time where teams have way too much cash, and not enough top end players to fill it. Someone is going to get that money and it's the midtier guys.

Turner isn't a bad player at all. I'll love to read this thread come next year when half of you guys are praising him for his defense and playmaking skills. He's not the big name we hoped to land, but the sooner you all realize Portland will never sign that guy, the happier you will be in early July. For whatever reason, of which have been hashed over numerous times, guys aren't going to come here. Everyone that though Dame was a drawing force was wrong. I know a bunch of you say we should wait and make trades, what big names have been made available in these kinds of deals? Harden is the only one and that was an outlier of the old CBA. With shorter contracts, teams aren't having to deal away guys nearly as much because they aren't on the hook for years 5-6-7.

Again, take a breath, pour yourself whatever tasty adult beverage you like and have a little faith NO knows what he is doing.

Yeah! You're absolutely right m. It could be much worse.... Like last year.

Remember when we all said "This is the most important FA period in the last 2 decades?"

We got Evan Turner.

Fuck that.

Told you. This season did nothing to impress anybody. We made the playoffs for what? But I'm glad you got your case study remember this summer forever

I used to think so. Now I'm not so sure.

Every fucking liberal hipster wants to move here... but we can't pay a dude max money to come play on our young up-and-coming team....... :sigh:
If Portland wants to become a more attractive market for ANYTHING, we need a lot less Birkenstock and "weirdness" and a much more accepting attitude of big business.

Will do. Thanks for setting us all straight.

You may go now; your work here is done.

Gee, I was please that Parsons isn't. Now I wish I had not checked in.

Again, please don't get me wrong. I like Turner, but that is too much money for him, even by today's standards. Fuck, I would have rather had Mozgov

Ironically I said yesterday morning that adding Turner and Mozgov would be a solid play D or E.
The money that has been thrown around fucked that up.

Yes. Because he sucks. And apparently we are just gonna give him the starting 3 spot.

Fuck you olshey
I don't think a player that averages 10/5/4 with good defense sucks. I think it will be a good fit because of his ball handling too, yeah 70 mil looks like a shit load but when the cap shoots to 110+ mil will 17mil a season seem so big?

This state bends over backwards to give subsidies to big business. If we lowered the property tax any more schools (which are already ridiculously lowly funded) would go in the shitter. The stink of bad weed and pachouli oil ain't gunna make a lick of difference. We're a beer stop on the way to Seattle and that will be nevr change. Anybody thinking this place is going to experience a tech boom needs to get his head out of the Elmer's glue vat!

This isn't a bad signing at all in terms of player addition. In terms of cost, whew this is a rough year. But honestly though, the available marquee players were shrinking. Would you rather not sign anyone at all? I think Olshey had the wisdom to see Whiteside is gone, Durant isn't happening, not sure on Howard, what if we can't get Parsons? You move onto the next player in that type of role (Parsons' role) and Turner was next up to grab before we had to go even further down the list. ALL things considered, this isn't a bad signing. Although he's not as appealing of a name as Parsons, he's not a bad player and fits a bit of what we've been doing in terms of acquiring athletic forwards (although the ones from the last year or so had been on bargain deals). If we can snag Howard or Ezeli I'd say successful off-season given the fact that we were never going to sign some of those big names. If we end up with Aldrich/Mahinmi along with Turner, it's gonna be a let down but I don't think you can fully blame Olshey for the ridiculousness of this year...

We got Turner for 17.5/year.

Solomon freaking Hill who averaged 4/3 on 15mpg just got 13/year from the Pelicans
Lakers got Mozgov for 16/year
Teletovic 10/year
Bayless is getting 9/year

That's just the nature of this off-season. This is the new NBA, at least for now. If Turner can get us some decent production, that price tag, despite being 150% of what Curry is paid, won't look so bad. Hill now is getting more per year than Curry. Crazy.

Would've loved to get Lin for 12, and still would like to get Howard or Ezeli, but this is just a rough year overall with much slimmer pickings than I think perception would imply.
