Evan Turner becomes a Blazer

All year people were bitching about not having a third ball handler. Specifically at the forward position. Neil gets one, that's also a good defender, and passer. And everyone freaks out. He has a hole in his game, he can't shoot 3's well. If he was a good 3pt shooter, he would be getting the full max, and Boston would've given it to him. I'd rather pay turner this deal, than pay batum, the deal he got. As for parsons.... Time will tell. He might play really well, or he might be a cripple like the last 2 years. The chance of that happening again this year (being a cripple) is probably better than it was last year, or the year before.

At this point, I really like our team from 1-4 and we have some good backup centers. We still need a starting caliber defensive center though. I'm sure that's Neil's next target.

It might have been brought up earlier in the thread, but Aminu was considered a poor 3-point shooter who was a questionable fit when he came to Portland. He turned out all right.

If the money being reported is accurate, I think it's an overpay, but I am going to withhold judgment on the Turner signing until I see him actually play a couple of months as a Blazer.

If he can get Mahinmi for 10 million or less. I think this offseason was a success. It's not like we would need mahinmi to play huge minutes. Just protect the paint and make the other team play a little bit out of their comfort zone. We don't really have a center that can do that. On paper, we look like an amazing small ball squad.

Turners salary would be 12ish last year. Still shitty
As opposed to the money batum made when he was here? Or when he decided to show up, every once in a while.

Constant stat lines of 1-8 from the field were really annoying.

Batum is a much better player

Difference is Aminu wasn't on a bloated deal.

Only his 3pt percentage. But when you take into account all the games he misses every year.... And all the games where he would miss his first 5 shots, then not try to shoot again the rest of the game...

Agreed. But Turner even said something about not being sure if he's getting $12 million or $17 million, correct? Have we gotten a confirmation on what the contract is, yet? I presume it's the higher figure, but do we know for certain yet?

Well this just proves my point. You guy keep filling the seat in the arena, so they put a team out there for you to watch.
They probably sign up Comcast again too with no clause to force a Satellite deal.

Why change what is working! That is not a question.

Averaged 15pts/6reb/4ast in 12 games as a starter last year. Shot 51%.

Just back off the ledge a little bit for crying out loud.

when Mozgov gets 16 mil per ya think Mahinmi goes for 10 mil?

Alright few hours after, the sticker shock is wearing off. I'm coming around to this. I wanted Turner when he was in Philly and am remembering why.

He's a good dude, a hard worker, and good fit for the team. We did need a guy who could allow Dame and CJ off the ball a bit to relieve pressure and he certainly provides that

Now we really need a rim protector.

I'm waiting for people to necro-bump the 2010 draft.

Agreed, but the spurn from Parsons hurts
