Olshey will be fired in the next 2 years. And we will still have the giant turd evan turned stinking up the place 2 more years after he is gone
Come on, man. That's overreacting a bit. We'll never be that bad with 2 top 20 players on the roster. We keep forgetting that Dame and CJ are going to be Blazers for a long time. We need complementary pieces around them. One more star would have been great, but unless we landed Horford this summer, that wasn't going to happen.

5 years. Then dame is out as soon as that contract is over if this is the shit olshey is gonna give him to work with. Setting him up with evan fucking turner to a deal thats 17% of the cap the next 4 years

We desperately need a third option on offense. Turner ain't it. So unless Neil has something else in mind....

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Last year was fun because we had the lowest payroll in the league and a butt ton of flexibility to improve upon a winning year. We blew that flexibility on Turner and are now going to have one of the highest payrolls in the league despite not fielding a significantly more competitive team. Context and expectations is everything. A 48 win season and 7th seed isn't acceptable this year, but is what will probably happen. Are you okay with that?

What FA would have been that for us? Parsons? meh
Using the cap space as a dumping ground while picking up future picks would have been better while keeping all of our rfas wouod have been better after we struck out on parsons.

We won't get top tier FA's unless we are in the WC finals and that FA knows they are the missing piece. So we need to keep putting the pieces together to improve. What FA was going to make us a contender? I said before yesterday the difference between Plan A and Plan E was minimal. Besides Durant, who would have gotten us there?

I love how today is a success if the Blazers get Parsons

Parsons already failed to live up to his last contract. Why the fuck would you give him another one?

Outside of efficient scoring he offers you nothing else.

Here's a fun comparison .

Turner last year:
28 mpg, 10.5 pts, 4.9 rebs, 4.4 asts, 46% FG, 24% 3pt, 83% FT, 1 stl, 2.1 TOV

Iggy his year in DEN before going to GS:
35 mpg, 13.0 pts, 5.4 rebs, 5.4 asts, 45% FG, 32% 3pt, 57% FT, 1.7 stl, 2.6 TOV

You normalize those minutes, and the stats look pretty damn identical

Mental gymnastics, anyone?

I think I would have absorbed Greg Monroe, I guess they could still do that if they renounced some guys.

Another thing to note, in Olshey tenure we have NEVER gotten anyone we have been rumored to pursue. Everyone we have gotten has come out of left field AFTER our targets have signed elsewhere. If that isn't an indictment of Portland I don't know what is.

There's a modicum of a chance that Parsons is that guy. There's no chance with Turner. At this point, I'll take modicum.

And his trash defense would do absolutely nothing to help the Blazers get better on that side of the floor

He's the wrong addition to the roster, period.

NO!

Monroe is a dumb move.

He can be a FA next year and leave us with nothing. And we wouldn't even have the chance to follow it up because we would have no caproom

The thing which haunts me the most is that Philly didn't want Turner.

THE SIXERS THOUGHT THEY COULD DO BETTER THAN TURNER SO THEY DUMPED HIM AND NOW WE'RE ASKING HIM TO MARRY US

4yrs 94M for parsons. 4 yrs 70m for turner.

wow.

what a time to be alive!

(and a mid-level NBA player).

cannot wait to see what people throw at meyers, but it'll feel good to not be paying it.....

Oh we'll be paying it. Count on it.

I understand that view as well.

But it doesn't excuse the panic offer to Turner after losing Parsons. There is just no defense for this awful shit farce of a deal.

Hes a horrible fit there with no shooting.

No, they pretty much just wanted to tank... Unless you think they've been trying to win?

Just because he doesn't shoot threes doesn't mean he's not a good shooter. He's got a mid range game. And he knows his limitations. Doesn't even really attempt any threes.
No, I was saying one of the reasons Philly didn't go after him was because they don't have enough shooting from others to compensate for his lack of shooting

I doubt it was a panic move

Neil and the Blazers rank FA and they go after him. They start at 1 and work their way down the list. Turner just happened to be the next guy.

As far as being overpaid...that's just the NBA right now. Conley for $30M per? Are you serious?

Also, the year he attempted the most per game, 2. He shot .365%
Is it that crazy to think he could do it again?
Especially when he's surrounded by shooters.
