im not going to make much of a casual's opinion who has only watched one half of our game. and that too a game where we had three guys play their first minutes with the team.

we have 2 guys on the current active roster who played in the game last night AND will be on the roster next year. Why TNT didn't flex out our game is beyond me.

I don't see how you can build a contender with one guy making $50 million. Especially in a town where FA don't want to go to. You have to get a lot of veteran talent to sign for nothing, year after year.

Dirk didn't take a pay-cut till his 13th season, and that wasn't much of a pay cut. He signed a 4 year deal that paid him 10M more than his previous 4 years. He didn't take a big pay cut till his 17th season

You have to be dedicated to paying luxury tax and building up your cap. You build up your cap by signing players to deals with bird rights or trading for them and then going over the cap when re-signing them but you keep the process going. The Lakers, Warriors, Bucks and a bunch of other franchises haven't been under the tax in a while and won't do what we did this year and last to dip under it because it makes it nearly impossible to have a cap number in the 160s to 170s for a while. So yeah if your operating around the salary cap, paying one player 41% of that number will make it really hard to compete but if through bird rights you push your cap up into the 170's paying one guy 30% of your cap space isn't so crippling.
