Your starting forward for the 2028 Seattle Supersonics: Jerami Grant!

(Hey, if we can offload Jerome Kersey in an expansion draft...)

If they don't start until 28-29, Grant will not be under contract with us. (nor would Jrue or Dame)

They can't protect him since he won't be under contract.

So we can only protect players under contract? If our roster was exactly the same on expansion draft day June 1st, 2028 for example, who are our 8 protected under contract players?

I don't know, since that's 2 years from now and the roster will probably be different. The only thing I do know is, I hope you're left OFF the protected list.

BOOM!

I'd for sure protect Deni, Clingan, Camara.

Nobody else is probably worth more than a 2nd rounder - on their current contracts.

Some posters will say Scoot/Sharpe. Sharpe has upside but a larger contract so might be overpaid. Scoot I'm just not sure is ever going to be more than a backup - has kind of a big rookie deal as the 3rd pick and is due an extension this summer or on an expiring contract. Just not sure there is much value. I'm probably protecting both if some team wants to overpay for them I'd listen.

Curious Why nothing has been said from the league about Seattle needing a nice arena, yet they say WE have to? Just so anybody is interested, Climate Pledge Arena is a fucking dump and 32 years older than the RG.

Before you say, “But it was remodeled in 2021”…… It’s a dump!

Isn't the only thing the same about the arena the roof? Like it's basically a brand new building except that?

The NBA's board of governors has approved a vote for the league to explore bids and applicants for expansion teams exclusively in Las Vegas and Seattle, sources told ESPN.

A bidding process is expected to generate offers in the $7-10 billion range for each team, according to sources.

Sources told ESPN last week that the league is targeting the 2028-29 season for the two expansion franchises to start playing.

For $7-10 billion you should be allowed to pick any city you want to play in. A billion dollars just doesn't go as far as it used to.

In order:
Clingan
Avdija
Toumani
Probably Shaedon
...?
This is my list ... might toss Vit and Sidy on there just for upside but Scoot would obviously be the tough one that would probably make the list along with Yang though I doubt he ever amounts to much. I'd obviously be happy if they were dumb enough to take Jrue or Grant off our hands.

Deni, DC, Tou, Shae, Scoot, Dame, Hans, Sidy

I would roll the dice on Jrue and Grant because their salaries are not desirable to an expansion team.

Williams, Thybulle, and Wesley are free agents.

That leaves Murray and Vit as cheap youngsters who might be snatched up

Have you been for a Kraken game ... is it really that bad? All the Seattleites rave about it

Interesting that the Kracken owner is the majority owner of the area. I wonder if that affects potential buyers for the Sonics? Probably not.

They are happy to have a team back in town to go watch. Of course they do. It’s not nicer than the RG

I have been up there a few times since the remodel. It isn’t any better than what we have. Thats why I’m asking why nothing is being said about them needing to upgrade anything.

Damn I got @HCP to reply to my one comment twice ... someone tell this guy about the edit button!

I remember going to Key Arena and it being a dump but you'd think for $1.15 billion they could get some nice upgrades, at least it looks like it was private money and not tax funds.

Are you crazy? Well, we all know the answer to that.
Climate Pledge is definitely nicer than the Moda Center. The concourse for example is much better, obviously newer and a more modern/clean look and feel.
Because you are always working the games at Moda, do you ever actually go walk around the concourse on the 100 level, 300 level, etc? You must not if you think Climate Pledge isnt better and is a "dump".
But then again you think NE Portland is nice so your opinion is taken with a grain of salt ..... 😜
