He chased Roy Hibbert when you least expected it.

He traded for Noah Vonleh when you didn't know who Noah Vonleh was and acquired Robin Lopez and Thomas Robinson when they weren't on your radar.

And while you were fretting about LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews, he quietly swooped in and signed Al-Farouq Aminu and Ed Davis to multiyear free agent contracts.

Since he arrived in Portland in the summer of 2012, Trail Blazers President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey has made a habit of operating under the radar and doing the unexpected. So when NBA free agency opens at 9:01 p.m. Thursday night, you can bet that whatever the Blazers are up to, it will feature an element of surprise...

We trading for LMA so Spurs can sign Durant. :MARIS61:

This is an article he wrote because he had to as a primer to free agency. 0 info, 0 insight, 0 knowledge.

Man, this local media is lacking

Olshey runs a very tight ship and is death on leaks. It's not from the reporters not trying to get information, there's just none to get.

you guys want a low key name that fits the profile look up dwight powell

Basically you just have to follow Woj to get any real Blazer scoop...before him, there's nothing in the rumor mill really

He better have a good FA summer.

The last 2 drafts have been painfully uninteresting.

Watching paint dry > An Olshey draft

"Neil, we know that you know that we know that your know...."

"Well keep knowing, man!"

I'm just questioning the point of the article and why it was posted in a separate thread with a million other FA threads. So... we don't know anything. Gee thanks.

Dude I was just making a joke! It's all good.

I posted the article in its own thread because it brought up a point not being discussed in any of the threads on FA. That point being that Olshey might not be interested in any of the players mentioned.

If that is the case, I'm curious as to when he is going to get around to moving the needle.

Olshey's prime target will not be a surprise.
He will follow it up with another "minor" signing or trade. That one will catch us all off guard.

I'll give Olshey credit for the many unexpected moves that worked out, however I recently read an article on the Edge that the Afflalo trade was a bad one. Draft pick and Barton who turned out to be a Gem for the Nuggets.

We're bringing Larry Sanders out of the looney bin!

We're talkin not 2, not 3, not 4, not 6 championships mang.

Olshey was Asst. GM when they drafted Blake Griffin. It is beyond debate that he will use his Clipper connections and get Griffin.

Is Kevin Kunnert available?

In hindsight, it was, because Afflalo got and played injured, Wes got injured, and LaMarCooch quit on the team.
